I walked back to my room to find it unlocked. An anonymous letter lay on the nightstand, its words etched into my mind like a scar. “Stay away from both men,” it warned, the ink scrawled as if the writer had been in a hurry or under duress. My hands trembled as I stared at it, wondering who would go to such lengths to insert themselves into this already tangled web of confusion. A knock on the door startled me, and I quickly folded the letter, slipping it into the drawer.
