CHAPTER 3

1112 Words
Everyone seemed to be adjusting well. It’s been almost a month since the announcement of the arranged union between Alpha Henry and Myrr. As more days passed, and as they get the time to know more about each other, Myrr can confirm how great of an Alpha Henry is. The whispers aren’t just whispers for no reason. Henry Fordyce lives up to his reputation. The moon hung high in the night sky, casting an ethereal glow over the dense forest as Myrr and Alpha Henry patrolled the border of Danderasia. They had chosen to personally guard the area due to the escalating reports of infiltration by rogues and raiders, recognizing the need to protect their packs from any potential threats. Their determination to keep their territories secure united them in purpose, despite the unrequited feelings that lingered beneath the surface. “How come ever since I’m back on patrol, there are no rogues or raiders sightings? But when I’m not here, they are swarming the entire borders?” Myrr huffed in frustration as she tucked blouse inside her trousers. With furrowed brows, Alpha Henry replied. “Shouldn’t you be happy that it’s the case? The attacks stopped now that you’re here.” Beta Kirk scoffed, almost spitting the water that he was drinking. “I hate to break it to you, Alpha, but Myrr’s the type to find fights engaging. She rarely has a boring patrol due to the numerous times that fights would ensue with rogues or raiders,” he closed the lid of the tumblr, then placed it inside his backpack. “You fancy bloodshed?” Alpha Henry inquired, scratching his temple in confusion. “Well, that’s a weird way to say that I just prefer a productive patrol rather than standing idly doing nothing.” Myrr countered, sharpening her knives. “Besides, I like exerting dominance against enemies. They should know where they stand. Our pack doesn’t condone criminals. We should put them in their rightful places.” Delta Franco nodded at the back, agreeing with Myrr’s words, but wasn’t actually saying anything. Although at the back of his head, he was concerned about Cara’s well-being. She hasn’t returned to the Mystic Falls packhouse yet and it does bother him to an extent. Being Cara’s parental figure for years, he does feel a sense of trepidation whenever she isn’t around. On the first night of their joint patrol, as shadows danced around them, the tranquility was shattered by a sudden ambush. “Watch out!” Delta Franco barked, getting into a defensive stance. Myrr, Beta Kirk, and Alpha Henry were quick on their feet, already ready for anything that may pose any threat to them. Rogues and raiders emerged from the cover of darkness, their menacing presence evident in their fierce eyes and snarling lips. Myrr and Beta Kirk swiftly engaged in combat, defending themselves with practiced precision. However, the unexpected ferocity of the attackers caught them off guard, resulting in injuries that hindered their ability to fight effectively. Alpha Henry and Delta Franco, recognizing the danger, sprang into action, their instincts honed from years of training. They fought with unwavering determination, skillfully neutralizing the rogues and raiders who dared to threaten their packs' safety. Amid the chaos of battle, Myrr's focus wavered for a moment, and she found herself separated from the others, drawn deeper into the forest. The sound of rustling leaves and snapping branches filled the air as Myrr cautiously ventured forward, her senses heightened. Her heart raced as a figure emerged from the shadows—a tall, imposing werewolf with a scar etched across his face. Recognition surged through her veins like a bolt of lightning. It was Simmone, the Alpha of the rival pack, and their bitter history fueled her determination. Without a word, the two Alphas lunged at each other, their bodies intertwining in a fierce dance of claws and fangs. The forest became their battleground, their snarls blending with the echoes of the night. Myrr's movements were swift and calculated, matching Simmone blow for blow. Each attack and counterattack carried the weight of past conflicts and the desire to protect her pack. As they clashed, Myrr's mind raced, memories flooding her consciousness. The battles, the bloodshed, and the pain they had inflicted upon each other's packs. The scar on Simmone's face, a permanent mark of their intertwined destinies, fueled her determination to emerge victorious. The fight was intense, the forest echoing with the clash of their powers. Myrr's muscles burned with exertion, but her resolve remained unwavering. She channeled her strength, drawing upon the deep well of determination that had guided her as a leader. She fought not just for herself but for the pack she cherished. Time seemed to blur as their battle raged on, their movements fueled by a mix of animosity and deep-rooted rivalry. The moon watched as they circled each other, each waiting for the perfect moment to strike. Myrr's instincts guided her, her mind sharp and focused. Finally, the pivotal moment arrived. Myrr seized the opportunity, her movements a blur of agility and precision. With a final, decisive strike, she managed to subdue Simmone, pinning him to the forest floor. The air crackled with tension as the defeated Alpha struggled beneath her. Breathing heavily, Myrr locked eyes with Simmone, her voice seething with determination. "Your reign ends here, Simmone. Your pack's aggression will no longer threaten the safety of Mystic Falls and Moon Valley. This forest belongs to us." Simmone, his defeated gaze locked with hers, spat out a mixture of defiance and begrudging respect. "You may have won this battle, Myrr, but the war between our packs is far from over." With that final proclamation, Myrr released him, watching as Simmone retreated into the shadows, disappearing into the night. The forest fell silent, the aftermath of their clash settling over the land. Exhausted but victorious, Myrr made her way back to where Alpha Henry and the others were regrouping. Despite the adrenaline coursing through her veins, she couldn't shake the feeling of the encounter with Simmone. Their destinies were intertwined, and the scars they bore, both visible and hidden, served as a constant reminder of the battles that lay ahead. Together, Myrr, Alpha Henry, and the rest of their pack continued their patrol, their resolve stronger than ever. The encounter with Simmone had sharpened their focus and reminded them of the importance of unity and vigilance. The bonds between them deepened, forged not only through duty but also through shared battles fought side by side. They marched forward, determined to protect their packs and face whatever challenges awaited them in the ever-shifting shadows of their world.
