Minto woke up before daylight and began slowly and silently lowering the hammock like cocoons he had created on a whim to escape the wave of maggots the day before.  Just like everyone else he hadn't been able to sleep for more than twenty minutes at a time with all the shrieks howls and growls around them that went on and on throughout the night.
