Chapter Three Becca

1065 Words
"Rebecca, can you clean up Exam Room 3?" A vet tech asked me. Pulling my attention from the clock, I was watching.  "Sure!" I said giving her my best smile. "Thanks!" She said walking away.  I rolled my eyes and muttered, "I can't wait to go home."  I got up and grabbed the supplies I would need to clean the room. When I opened the door I was smacked in the face by the smell of dog pee.  I gagged. Being a werewolf had its perks but the enhanced sense of smell in this situation was not one of those perks.  The whole time I cleaned I was lost in thought about my job title. I was a receptionist, not a janitor. Last time I checked cleaning up after the animals wasn't my job. The only reason I even took the job was so I could get a paycheck, college classes didn't pay for themselves and neither did my piece of s**t car. I'd already made my boss mad by falling asleep on the clock. So I couldn't protest cleaning.  I finished cleaning quickly, sanitized everything, and walked out happy when I could no longer smell pee. I put the cleaning supplies back in the closet and returned to the front desk where I got busy organizing files that someone had filed incorrectly. Once that was done I started daydreaming about my best friend, Elena. I had the next three days off and I was ready to go to the club and dirty dance with my best friend. The thought of her rubbing her butt against me turned me on.  I shook my head, I needed to stop daydreaming about her. I knew what we had wouldn't last because eventually one of us would find our mate. The last few hours flew by and before I knew it, it was 4:30. I quickly cleaned up my work station and clocked out. I practically skipped to my car.  When I got in the car, I quickly headed home. As I drove I thought about what I would do this weekend. Aside from clubbing with my bestie and getting tangled in her sheets, I had to get up early the following morning and go visit my grandparents. Although the idea of riding in the backseat of our old beat-up van between my two younger brothers was not something I looked forward too.  As soon as I got home, I pulled into the driveway and parked the car. Leaving it running, I hurried through the front door slamming it behind me and making my way to my room.  "Why are we slamming the door?" My mom called after me. "Sorry! I’m just grabbing an overnight bag to spend the night at Elena’s house.” I yelled as I stuffed clothes and my make up in a duffle bag. Goddess knows that I won't need any of these clothes for what I had planned. I mainly came home for my makeup, Elena had the good taste in clothes and I was good at the makeup. Together we balanced each other out. "Doing anything fun tonight?” My mom said from the doorway of my room.  “Yeah. We are headed to this new club downtown. They serve alcohol that can get a wolf drunk!” I said looking at my mom.  “You better not drink! And you better not stay up too late. We have to leave here by 8:00 in the morning!” She said.  I sighed and grabbed my phone charger. “We aren’t going to drink! And I know!” “I’m serious Rebecca. When you and Elena are together, you tend to be a bit forgetful.” She said pulling me into a hug. "Okay. I won’t forget but I left my car running so I got to go. Love you!" I said hugging her back "Love you too." She said walking away shaking her head. *************  I knocked on the front door of Elena’s house as I walked in. I took a deep breath and I could smell marinara sauce being cooked. My stomach growled.  “Becca, that better be you?" Elena yelled.  "Yup! It's me!" I said following the smell of the food and the sound of Elena’s voice to the kitchen.  "Hello, Becca." Mrs. Thomas said as I entered the dining room. "Hey, Doc. What’s up El?!” I sat at the table and made myself comfortable. “Becca, how many times have we been through this. Just call me Kate!" She said to me as she scooped food on her plate.  “Hey, can I have some spaghetti?!” I said getting up and grabbing a plate before either one could answer. I did not realize how hungry I was. Her mom gave me a look and Elena just laughed, “Sure, help yourself” I loaded my plate high and began eating! While we ate we chatted about our days and then our plans for this evening.  “So where are you guys going tonight??" Her mom said watching me.  "It's some club in Silver Moon City, called The wolf. I guess it is owned by the Alpha of the Silver Moon pack!" I said finishing my plate. We stood and started helping Kate clean the table but she quickly shooed us away. “Go get all dolled up and head to the club. I'll clean the mess! Maybe one of you will finally meet your mate!" “Yeah right!” Elena snorted. “Hey, man, you never know!” I said. Although deep down inside I didn’t want either of us to find a mate. Because I was comfortable with what we shared.  Elena rolled her eyes at me. "Well, I'm just saying. I’m not getting any younger and I want some grandpups to spoil!" Her mom said with a wink!  "MOM!!!!" She groaned. “Thanks for the food Kate!” I said before linking elbows with my girl. “Let’s go get ready!” A few hours later we were ready to roll. I looked around the room as we walked out! “We made a giant mess!” “Oh well. We can just clean it later!” With that Elena closed the door and we headed down the stairs. I checked my reflection in the mirror by the door. “We look hot as f**k tonight!” I said. I stared at the short, tight, black dress this girl had on “See ya in the morning mom." She called as we headed out the door. “Bye girls! Be careful!” She called back. We walked to Elena's car and got in. I took control of the radio and began playing our favorite songs. We didn't talk much as we drove an hour to Silver Moon City.
