An Elven Fantasy

For four

An elven king apologizes to a group of adventurers standing in his throne room, for keeping them waiting. They’re not ones to reprimand their host for being delayed, until they see the person their host is dragging behind him. A member of their own party being the reason for their wait, is cause for any group to have something to say. But before they can get a word in edgewise, he shoots them down with a commanding gaze, and assures them this event has no baring on this adventure’s fate. That is, except, that he’d want to keep his newfound prize with him. As the party needs this unseen genius to wander around unseen, picking up adventurous loot for then, they are quick to argue. The girl, the entire time, is caught in the crossfire of conversation, not saying a word wise, and hiding behind her elven idol. While she is bound to this quest, she’s not a very strong person emotionally, and has somehow attached herself to her little elvish idol. Which doesn’t help matters, as she hangs onto his arm, avoiding the glared of her previous group, that believes they all but own her.

At last, when the yelling dies down, she finds her voice and shamefully lets them know she wants to stay here. However, in a turn of events, the elf realizes that she’s lent her skills out to this adventuring team, and to abandon them now is to be unfaithful. He’s right, of course, but no one wants to be the one to try and peel her off his arm. But he does just that, as he kisses her forehead, and asks the group how long their adventure will take. No one knows the answer because no one knows what this adventure actually is. The plot was supposed to be a love story, but the adventure took over instead. So they lie to the elven king and tell him it’s only a 4-week journey there, and the same time back. They’d only be gone for four times two. Now they’d just have to come up with a few chapters of adventures and 2 months of adventures to put in them. The life of an adventurer is hard, and this is probably why most people just stayed home.
