Chapter Four

2399 Words
We stand there and watch the crowd of people flirting, groping and laughing having the night of their lives until the bartender finally hands us our drinks. Emma hands me a shot. “Cheers to us!” We both drown the shots without a second thought. I grimace as it warms my throat and stomach, then I look up to the sound of Emma laughing at me. “That was terrible” I say as I chuckle and drown my vodka sprite. “ Holy cow Addie!” Emma looks at me with wide eyes. “What I don’t want to hold it while we dance and we both know we don’t want to leave our open drinks unattended!” “Very true!” She says then slams her beer. We turned and made our way through the crowd and onto the dance floor. We push our way through the crowd closer to the DJ, it’s our favorite spot to be. The music is so loud you can’t hear yourself think, you can only feel the bass of the music and enjoy what it makes you feel. We dance for what feels like hours and only stopped to take shots. I turned and looked next to me at Emma, who had her eyes closed face towards the ceiling, with a look of pure happiness on her face and dancing, lost in the world of music and alcohol. And I just stare at my best friend who somehow always knows what I need before I do. Doesn’t question it, doesn’t keep asking questions or bringing it up. Just here with me no matter what. I close my eyes to keep the tears from falling and start to dance again just as I feel a warm presence behind me, and then hands on my hips. I keep dancing without looking and enjoying the warmth and how well this person can dance. Our hips sway to the music as we keep dancing. I finally open my eyes and look at Emma who has a cute guy dancing with her and are talking into each other's ears. I look over my shoulder and look into a pair of bright green eyes. He is smiling widely at me, showing his straight white teeth. I smiled back at him, because he is hot with his sandy blonde hair, clean shaved face and bright smile. I deserve to have a moment of happiness and not think of everything weighting on me. He leans down to my ear. "What is your name?" he says loudly over the music, "Addie and you?" "It's Noah, nice to meet you Addie." before I can respond, Emma comes over and leans to my ear "Bathroom break and another drink?" "Yes please!" I turn to Noah "We are going to go to the ladies room and grab drinks. I'll see you back on the dance floor." I went to turn to and a hand grabs my upper arm keeping me from walking away. I look down at it as the hand drops off. " Why don't I buy you and your friend a drink while you are in the restroom and you two can just meet Luke and I back up right at the bar?" Noah offers loud enough Emma can hear him as said Luke steps next to him, the same guy that was dancing with Emma. "That sounds great!" Emma answers as she pulls me towards the line at the restroom. "Those two sure are hot!" Emma says into my ear. "Luke can dance too!" "Yeah Noah can dance pretty good too" We come out of the bathroom and make our way to the bar, where we spot Noah and Luke standing and talking. "Well what are the pretty ladies having?" Luke asks "Well don't you know how to flatter a woman, we will have two whiskey shots please." Emma says to Luke as she puts her had on his arm. They jump into a conversation. Noah turns away from the bartender and looks at me with a smile. "So Addie are you from here?" "Born and raised, what about you?" "I am just here for work." "Oh where are you from?" I ask as he hands me one of the whiskey shots "Cheers!" Emma says to me as we touch glasses and down our shots. Emma dives back into her conversation with Luke just as Noah says "I was born in Boston but have traveled all my life that I can remember." "That must have been hard traveling all the time." I say as I glance at Emma, who is leaning into Luke flirting. I look back at Noah, who glanced at them too. " It wasn't bad. I actually liked traveling." Before I could say anything else, Emma reaches over and grabs my hand. "Let's go dance gentlemen!" We all four make our way back to the even more packed dance floor. I start dancing as Noah steps behind me and starts dancing with me with his hands back on my hips. His hands slowly keep moving up to right below my ribs and back down to my hips. We dance like that for a while, it feels nice to have a man's hands rubbing on me, it's been awhile since I have had hands on me that weren't my own. "God you are gorgeous Addie." Noah breathes into my neck as his lips lightly brush below my ear. I reach my hands up to the back of his neck as we grind against each other. His hands trailed back up to my ribs but stopping below my breast this time. I turn my head and look at where Emma and Luke are standing and see them kissing as they dance. I smile to myself, she is always the go-getter. "Would you like to go somewhere less loud?" Noah says, turning my attention back to him. I never do one-night stands or even leave with someone the times Emma and I come out, but tonight I decided why not. I have hardly done anything for myself, worried about everything, work, money, and how I'm going to finally get my bosses to notice my work. Or when I finally get the guts to quit and start selling my own work instead. Noah stares at me waiting for my answer. "Sure, let me tell Emma really fast." I say then walked over to Emma and Luke, still locked in a passionate make-out session. I tap Emma on the shoulder, and she breaks away from Luke and looks at me. Her face flushes as she steps away from him. "Sorry to interrupt but Noah and I are going to go somewhere quiet." I said into Emma's ear. "Are you sure? You don't normally do that. If you want to leave, we can go home, Addie, I don't mind at all." She looks at me seriously. "No, it's fine! I think I'm going to try it, not like I can call a cab if needed and go home. You stay and have fun with Luke!" " Are you sure?" "Yes, I'll let you know when I make it home and everything. You have my location." "Okay, I'll keep you updated as well. Love you, call me if you need me." "Love you too and do the same." I say as I hug her and then make my way over to Noah, who has moved to the sidelines of the dance floor waiting for me.n"Are you ready?" He asks when i make it to him. "Yes." I respond as he offers me his hand. We make our way out of the club and into the chilly fresh air, on the sidewalk that still has a long line of people waiting to get in. A street with a line of taxi cabs waiting for people to leave. "Do you want to go to your place or mine?" He asks as we walk up to a cab. He opens the door for me." Yours is okay." I'd rather not show him my place. I don't like the idea of a stranger knowing where I live, and I didn't get the chance to clean up from my homelessness. He rambles off his address to the driver after shutting the door. The car pulls away from the club. " I did not think you would want to leave with me". Noah states as he turns towards me. "Why is that?" "Not to sound mean or anything, you just look like one of those girls that requires a first date before anything can happen." He chuckles and i just look at him, talking about judging a book by its covers, but then again he's not really wrong. I am usually that girl. Guarded, not letting anyone in until they get past the tests. "Oh well you were wrong." I said instead of saying he was right. I look over at him just as he leans down and surprises me with a kiss. "Oh" I say said to his lips at the shock of it. He hungrily kisses me, as his hands come up to the back of my head, pulling me into him. All while I sat there still surprised, not even kissing him back yet, he tasted like alcohol and fake mint. I try, I really do try, to kiss him back and find enjoyment in it. He tries to get me to open my mouth with a nudge of his tongue, but I can't bring myself to deepen the kiss, Because how little I feel with it. I pull away, and he sits back, runs a hand through his hair as he signs and says "Keep kissing like that and we won't be able to wait until we are back to my place." He laughs completely unaware that I did not enjoy that kiss at all. He puts his arm around my shoulder. "Come here." he pulls me closer to his side, then leans over and inhales the smell of my hair. And I have to keep myself from pulling away to ask if he actually did that. The cab comes to a stop in front of his place right before I do say something. Noah leans forwards and gives him cash. "Have a good night man." Noah says as he climbs out and waits for me to do the same. I should just go home now. "Hey Noah, I uh think I'm going to go ahead and go home. I just remembered I have the only key and Emma won't be able to get inside." "only, at least come in for one more drink and then I'll get you another cab. I doubt they have left the club yet, anyway. It'll be quick, I swear." I signed and climbed out. One drink won't hurt. I followed him up to his place. We stepped into the large apartment. "So is this Luke's place?" I say as I take a look around. "Ha Luke wishes he could afford a place like this, no I keep it for when I'm here for work because its often enough and I hate hotels." "Oh, what do you do for work." "I am in sell's. Basically, to sum up, I travel around and sell things to rich people and make a lot of money." The way he says it as if he needed to dumb it down for me to understand. Makes me want to leave even more. "Nice." I simply replied, not really interested in the conversation anymore. He steps over to an alcohol cart and pours us whiskey neat. He turns and hands me one just as his phone starts to ring. He pulls it out of his pocket. "Uh give me one second I need to take this." He says as he steps into a room and cracks the door behind him. I quickly decided to set the glass down and leave. "Hey Noah, Emma just called. She's heading home, so I'm going to go ahead and meet her there. It was uh nice meeting you." I said as I stepped towards the door. I heard a thud coming from the room. "Noah? Are you okay?" I stepped towards the room. "Noah?" I said again as I peeked into the room, only able to see a little bit of a desk. I push the door open wider and step into what looks like a home office and just as the whole room comes into view, I am met with a cold barrel of a gun touching my head. I gasp and freeze as my heart rate skyrockets. I look at the man standing in front of me but all I see is a mask and brown eyes staring at me. What the hell is happening and where is Noah!? "Don't move," The man says. I hear a faint noise of what sounds like more than one person shuffling around. "Sir?" The man turns his head and looks at someone. But I'm not able to move, too frozen to look at anything other than the gun in my face. "Put her in cuffs and take her with us for questioning." Someone in the room says. The gun disappears and the next thing I know, someone behind me grabs my arms and puts cuffs on me as I take in the room. There are 5 men in s.w.a.t uniforms. One with a gun to Noah's head, who looks sheepishly like this isn't the first time it happened to him. Another on Noah's back puts cuffs on him. One was standing in front of me, and one behind me. Then I barely see the fifth one that's standing by the window because he blends into the darkness so well, and he's looking right at me, and when my eyes finally meets his I let out a gasp. I stare at the same exact piercing blue eyes I saw earlier this week, and I instantly know its him. Those eyes are like no other, they just capture you and look into your very soul. And when he speaks, it I know without doubt it's him. "Lets move out and get back to the station for questioning before anyone else wants to show up." A hand comes up to my shoulder and leads me out of the room and building, into a black SUV.
