Extraction Ritual

"So, what is this miraculous method that would bring life back to my gem?" "To carry out this method, you have to first understand what those gems are. From what I see, you don't really understand what they are and their functions" "You.... are totally right. I don't get it" "Seriously, the royal family has become very careless. I'm sorry about what happened to them, by the way" "It's fine. So, explain to me the gems" "Very well. Our Gems are simply put, the physical manifestations of our Inner Trinity; Mind, Soul, and Spirit. In the past, when humans wanted to use magic, they had to first unify the inner trinity and then form the gem on any part of their bodies as they so wished. However, with our great deity, Gem-humans were made and everyone was born with a manifested gem so magic can easily be practiced. Gems contain tremendous power. Depending on the size, texture, type, and color of the gem, the power manifested varies. To demonstrate that, I'll show you the power of the Pink Sapphire" Devan clapped her hand two times and the whole temple trembled. A part of her veil glowed pink, particularly her eye part. A vine snaked around my leg and climbed around my waist.  "Calm down, your majesty. I'm not going to hurt you. I only commanded the vines to wrap around you. That's the magic of the Pink Sapphire; Control" "Wow" "Yes, I also at one point found the power amazing. Now........" I couldn't see her face but I could feel the somberness and regret in her voice. Now, what would make a fifteen-year-old fill with so much regret? "High Priestess Devan?" "Oh, don't mind me, your majesty. Like I was saying, that gem in you is dead because it is not connected to your inner trinity. So, it would have to be extracted" "Sorry?"  Wait! Wait, wait, wait, wait! You're telling me that this thing that is basically a part of me would have to be removed?! That sounds painful. "I'm sorry, your majesty, but it is as painful as it sounds" "Wait! Wait! Wait! Wait! Wait! Isn't there another method?!" "There isn't anymore, I'm afraid. You'll have to use this method either way because that gem is sucking up your life force to live. That's why you can feel it being 'alive'. In a few years, the gem would kill you" "Wait! No one told me about this" "Well then, you should be grateful to me for telling you. I'm being such a good friend" "You're raising death flags!" "Death..... flags? What are those?" "Never mind those. Ahh, this is such a pain. After I came here without my consent too....." "Ah, that sounds unfortunate" "You have no idea" I say, giving the most stressed-out smile I've ever mustered. She must've been peeved because of how far back she walked.  "Dawn is almost upon us, your majesty. What shall you do?" "How long will this extraction process take?" "I cannot say for certain. I cannot also say whether you would survive it. I would prepare for it and when preparations are done, I would call for you. After your gem is extracted, you would undergo training to grow a new one. Hopefully, this method works" "Hopefully......?" I felt something break in me. I breathed in and out slowly, to keep from freaking out.  "Can you please...... show me to the exit?" "O-Okay but I can only escort you so far. My duties start at dawn" "Eh? Don't you need to sleep?" She giggled and led me towards the exit.  "You silly, I'm the High Priestess. I have duties far more important than sleep" "From the succession, I can tell you aren't immortal. Sleep is important, don't skip out on it, friend"  I'm only imagining it but I think she smiled.  "Okay, friend" I finally left the church after a few hours. A few brushes with death and those 'angels', I can already see that this strange world is dangerous. Still, after being given a new life, I was determined to live it.  "Your majesty, why did you take so long?! You barely have time to rest and it is almost morning. Hurry, go to bed" Mila lectured on. I chuckled and took her hand, pressing a kiss to the back. I was being delirious and tired, my limbs sagging. Still, it wouldn't stop me from thanking her.  I had fallen asleep and it was definitely my imagination but I think she blushed. It was such a cute face too. Pity it was only a dream. The king's office was as big as I imagined. Tall ceilings that filtered in sunlight, large windows with coral drapes, numerous huge shelves, blue rugs, a huge wooden table that looked expertly carved and undeniably ancient, a chair that could be fit for a king, and a few more furniture.  A minister from the parliament house was there ready with documents. His smile was straight up filled with prospects of pain. The King's work was definitely not easy and with the long procession of workers with documents, the work was tiring.  Mila let them in, instructing them to arrange it according to priority. The minister came up to me to introduce himself.  "Your majesty, I'm Count Nish Turent. I am here to assist with your work and convene information from the parliament house" Looking at him, he was most definitely a spy. A new king with no magic and no support system, the parliament would definitely keep an eye on me. The only reason they accepted me as king was to avoid military rule but it doesn't mean they would let me do as I pleased.  I stretched my hand for a handshake.  "I look forward to working with you, Count Turent" "Likewise, your majesty" I would make this man my ally if it's the last thing I do.
