After a long while, Alex pulled out his phone.
"I'll send you out of the city. Don't come back."
He opened the travel app and started booking Claire a flight to some coastal town far away.
"I'll find you a decent guy as soon as I can. Maybe once you have someone else, we won't keep making the same mistake over and over."
Claire clenched her hands, her face twisted with pain.
"I'll find a boyfriend. I promise. But please don't send me away. I'll stay out of your way, I swear. I just need to see you once in a while. Otherwise, I'll lose my mind!"
She grabbed his hand, begging.
He hesitated, then caved. He wouldn't send her away after all.
