Chapter 2

"So dad" I started when my father came down to have his breakfast, "What did the Alpha say?" I asked, trying not to look too hopeful. I wanted to go to London so bad. Please just say that he had agreed to let me and mother come as well. Please, pretty please. My father sat down in front of me and the took a loaf of bread from the basket before buttering them up, "You know about him right?" He asked with a small smile and I knew he was referring to the Alpha, "Of course he had said yes. Lorenzo has a sweet spot for you so that little guy managed to back up for you" My father added before I could answer his question. I squealed in excitement and triumph, throwing my hands up in the air and did a victory dance. My father laughed at my childlike attitude as I tried to control my excitement. This has been on the top of my bucket list. To visit London. And to know that I am only a few days away from making that dream a reality made me speechless for a few seconds. I was too delighted to even form a proper sentence. "We will leave tomorrow and stay there in London for three days" My father added making me squeal again. I clapped both of my hands together and grinned at him in glee. "Dad this is the best time of my entire life" I chortled. I could almost imagine myself standing in front of the big ben, posing for a photo. "I am glad that you're happy honey," My father said snapping me back to reality. I looked at my father and found him watching me with those amused eyes. I nodded my head at him and he went to take a bite of his bread. "Does mom know yet?" I asked after he swallowed his food and my father nodded his head, "She knew it last night itself. I think she is packing now" He said, taking another bite. She knew it and it didn't cross her mind to tell me about this last night itself. She was probably too excited to even let me know. I quickly finished the rest of my food as fast as I can before scrubbing my plate clean and then drying it. We don't have a maid and my mother doesn't trust the dishwashing machine so we had to do the dishes by ourselves. Which is totally fine by with all of us. I placed the plate on the rack carefully before turning to face my father again, "Alright, I have to go get my stuff packed too" I said to him to which he just nodded at me with a small smile, "Oh I cannot wait" I squealed excitedly as I bounced towards the stairs to climb up to my room. "Where is Nate?" I heard my father ask when I stepped on the first stair. "He went to get some books to the neighbouring town" I answered him without turning around to look back at him. I just a 'hmmm' in return before I reached the top of the stairs. I went to my bedroom and then started to sift through my closet, trying on the outfits that I thought would be best to be captured with London's beautiful city lights so I can keep the pictures forever with me. I mentally made-up scenarios and giggled at it as I tried each and every outfit in front of the mirror. I have made a huge mess right now but I will clean that up later after packing everything into my trolley bag. "Irina," I heard my father call from downstairs as I tried my fifth outfit for a three day holiday, "Yes dad?" I asked him back, waiting for him to continue whatever he wanted to ask me. "We have to go to the pack borders now" He started to talk after a few seconds of silence, "You have to accompany me since Nate is not here," He said and I sighed. "Alright, dad," I said reluctantly. This was not something unusual for us. It was mandatory to bring your heir to the pack borders if an Alpha or a Beta from other pack is about to step into our territory. It is a symbol of respect in BloodMoon Pack. I changed into my formal clothes in less than two minutes and went down to meet my father again but not before glancing behind my now messy room. My mother would throw a fit but hopefully, I would be able to clean everything up and pack my clothes before she discovers my room like this. "So who is coming this time, daddy?" I asked as we walked side by side, heading towards the pack borders. Since we can't communicate with other wolves from another pack, it is best to remain in our human form. It makes everything much easier. My father glanced at me, "Have you ever heard of Black Alder pack?" He asked before looking forward again. Black Alder? I tried to rake my brain to see if I had heard of that pack before, "No?" I shook my head after a few seconds, "I don't think so there is a pack in Canada that sounds like that" I said, sounding pretty confident about it. "Good to know you're paying attention in your classes" My father grinned and I smiled sheepishly at him, scratching the back of my neck. It was true, we were taught about the basic history of existing packs in Canada in school, "Black Alder pack is not from Canada but it's from America" My father finally said. That got my attention and my eyes grew wide, "Wow" I breathed, "We are having foreigners today" I said trying to process this information. It's not every day we get to have someone this far away from here on our territory. "Yes, we do" My father chuckled softly and nodded his head at me. I looked at him, furrowing my eyebrows together, "But why so suddenly?" I asked him, narrowing my eyes now, "We never had any wolf coming from anywhere from other countries before?" I watched my father's facial expression as he talked. It didn't look like he liked this pack much. "The Alpha of the Black Alder is here to make some business deals with our Alpha," He said, raising his shoulder a little and shrugging, "I heard that he is not the most patient out there. He has temper problems" My father added, under his breath. Temper problems are not uncommon in werewolves. Especially an Alpha. BloodMoon pack is truly blessed to have Alpha Lucas as he is much reserved and calmer compared to other Alphas that I know of. "Sounds like his mate has a tough time with him" I blurted out without thinking. I can't imagine how hard it must be to be a mate to such an Alpha. Imagine being scared for the littlest things. "He hasn't found his mate yet" My father shook his head again at me. That's interesting. Did he become an Alpha recently? I assumed that he was young. Maybe in his early twenties or late teens. "How old is he?" I found myself asking even though I tried not to waste my precious time over some hot-tempered Alpha. "Twenty-six I think" That's old. "That's too old to not find a mate yet" I mused to me. My father said something under his breath, too fast for my ears to catch it, "I shudder to think how his mate would react when she knows that she is mated to one of the cruellest Alpha in the world" My father went on and for some reason I found myself shivering at the thought of it. My wolf mewled and I perked up, trying to see if she sensed anything wrong. My wolf rarely makes these kinds of noises. "Cruel?" I probed in a tiny voice. I wasn't the one who gets scared easily. I was one of the warrior wolves and warrior wolves doesn't get scared. Fear is the first thing that we overcome when we first start to train. But right now, I could feel the tinge of fear starting to seep into my bones as I speak of this particular Alpha. "Yeah" My father went on, oblivious to the fact that all the colour had drained from my face, "Some even call him merciless" He added making my eyes go rounder. What that he did that made people call him merciless? "Dad-" I was about to ask him more about the Black Alder's Alpha but my father interrupted me abruptly, "Sshhh" He hushed me, "No more talking" He shook his head at me, "We're almost there now" Oh yeah, I almost forgot that we were on our way to meet this Alpha, "Okay"  I nodded my head, understanding that this Alpha is probably close enough to hear on our conversations. We didn't speak after that. We didn't even mind link with each other as we both had something else in our minds. By the time we reached the clearing of the southern pack border, I was already imagining the Black Alder's Alpha's face to look like a villain from an old movie. My other pack mates were already there with our Alpha and Luna, along with Beta Jason and Blair. I smiled when they saw me approaching them, "Hello Alpha" I greeted the head of our pack first. Alpha Lucas looked pleased to see me here, "Hey, Irina" He greeted back in a friendly tone. One of the best things about Alpha Lucas is, he is a very humble person. "Seeing you growing up like this makes me realize that I am no longer a young man" He put his hand over his chest and feigned sadness. I grinned at him. He has seen me since I was in diapers and now I am here as the Gamma's daughter and also as a warrior so I could relate to what he was saying, "You still look dashing as always, Alpha" I complimented him smoothly. Which was true. He looked so handsome as ever. Luna Hazel is blessed to have him by her side. Alpha Lucas grinned at me, flashing those beautiful dimples, "Why, thank you, my dear" He said and then he looked at Luna Hazel who was smirking at our conversation, "See, she thinks that I am dashing" He said, looking proud of himself. Luna Hazel put her hand over her mouth to stifle the giggle that is threatening to break free from her beautiful lips, "She is just being kind. She doesn't want to hurt you by telling the truth" She said, sending a wink my way. Alpha Lucas's jaw dropped open and then he shifted his eyes back to me, "Is that true, Irina?" He asked me, looking completely mortified. It is true, he does look handsome. "Um-" I stopped myself from saying what I wanted to say when I heard the trees crunch from the direction where we are expecting the wolves to come from. Everyone stiffened at that and cast their sharp eyes towards where I was looking. 'Formation guys' I heard Alpha Lucas's commanded and my body immediately responded to the command. I stood there fearlessly, next to my father. The other wolves took their stances as well, keeping our welcome friendly yet not wanting to take any chances. I watched as Alpha Lucas and Luna Hazel exchange a meaningful glance before the Alpha took a step in front and almost hid her body behind his back. Wanting to keep her safe from what's coming even though he knows that they are here to talk business. I held my breath and stood still, anticipating the arrival of the group of wolves. They might be about a few kilometres away but I could feel the different auras floating in the air before even they reached here. A cold breeze blew right onto my face and I sighed in contentment as a delicious smell wafted into my nostrils. Suddenly, all I can think of is that smell. I took a deep breath, trying to take in the air as much as I can in my vain attempt to seize that smell. What could possibly smell so nice like this? It made my mouth water. I swallowed my own saliva feeling like a small kid that was trying to not eat the tempting muffin that was placed right in front of her. My mind swam with a lot of questions regarding that addicting smell that I didn't realize that the guests from the neighbouring country had already arrived. I was too preoccupied with taking big whiffs of air. My wolf was pacing inside of me. She was waiting eagerly for something. I furrowed my eyebrows together as I couldn't think of anything that would possibly make her this excited.  Knowing it would be rude if I do not give my attention to our guests, I lifted my eyes to meet with the most unique shade of Amber eyes and my breath hitched as my wolf recognised the owner of those eyes as her mate. My wolf was howling in utmost delight while I just stared at my mate in blatant disbelief. "Mate" Was the word he said before those beautiful set of Amber eyes darkened in desire and taking a step towards me.
