Chapter no 11

I knocked on the door and waited outside to hear an answer. It was almost evening, and I had changed into my sweats, deciding to stay in for the rest of the day. “Come in,” My father said from the inside. I opened the door, walked in, and closed it behind me. My father smiled as he looked at me. He had a paper in his hand, and glasses on his nose, through which he was reading whatever. “I hope I didn’t disturb you?” She asked him, approaching the sofa he was sitting on. “No, My dear, how would you ever do that?” He asked, smiling. Gosh, I came here to complain but he is in such a good mood. Maybe I should try a different approach. “About today,” I said settling onto the sofa with crossed legs, “I was wondering if we could shift back to the large number of guards that stayed outside my school, rather than one roaming inside?” “And why is that?” He asked, looking at his paper. “… because it’s annoying, I mean why would you request to let him in, every thing was going well. I was taking the guards with me everywhere I went, Why did you all of a sudden eliminate them all and just hired one,” “Those guards were for prevention and Mason is for safety. Those guards weren’t able to protect you in the club, But Mason did,” He said, now raising his face t look at me, “What does that tell you?” “I didn’t take the guards with me that day, I will now. I’ll take them everywhere I go,” “My dear, It was you who asked me to ‘hire someone best in his field and we are all good to go,’ So, I did,” “Why him, Just because h saved me once, doesn’t mean he is the best at his job,” I opposed. “I know him from before that. He is the best in his field. You think your father would be so ignorant when it comes to your protection?” He asked. I shook my head in No. He would never ever be Ignorant, It was a pain in the a*s. “That didn’t mean He’ll come inside my school, in my classes,” I protested. I did say to hire only one guard because I thought my father would never ever get satisfied with just one. All my life I have been guarded by at least a couple. For one person, it never happened. “And inside clubs, malls, parties, every time you put your feet outside this mansion,” He said, looking into my eyes. I saw wild emotions slurring through them. The same eyes he has when he is drunk. “But, I don’t….,” “No, Buts, This is for your own safety. The invasions I had been worried about, just occurred, You want me not to react. You should be happy I haven’t banned you from going out,” I stayed quiet. Well, I had nothing else to say, He was in charge, I live in his house, Can’t move out, because he won’t allow that. And now He had me bound to a man who I have a crush on, and I cannot even date him, or anyone because I am not allowed. And I can do nothing about it because everything is f*******n for me. So, I get up and go upstairs to my room, slamming the door behind me. It was no doubt I was angry. . . . The following morning I was late for class. I was hustling around in my room, finding my stuff and stuffing my bag and myself. I was not able to find my jacket and had all of my closet outside. Finally, I changed my mind and decided on a shirt. I pulled myself outside the door and downstairs, rushing to the door. “Breakfast Ella?” Rosella was rushing behind her, with a tray in her hand. “I’ll manage Rose, Don’t worry,” She cried, striding towards the garage. By the car, Mason was standing with his hands crossed. A tight expression on his face. She races to the car. As much as she wanted to seem polite and sweet to him, She had no time to walk observantly. She sat in the car, and so did Mason and the driver was already inside. “I am late today, Would you please hurry up,” She said to the driver and he nodded. “Thanks,” She whispered and settled back into her seat. She glanced toward Mason and his eyes were on her. She quickly averted her gaze. He was as yesterday, dressed in all black. A shirt not too loose, nor too tight with black pants and black shoes. This man was always in character. Was it wrong to be attracted to her bodyguard? But she was pretty sure she was attracted to him before his father decided to put her in misery. When he had saved her from some hungry dogs. She smiled at the thought. It seemed so absurd now, but she was too afraid at that moment. The dogs were wild, and as it seemed hungry. Then he changed her tire. He was uncaring then, she had to beg her to help. Then she remembered the day he saved her from almost being kidn*pped, she hadn’t asked him. Everyone ran for their lives, except him. Why would he do that? She had no answer. Clearly, he wasn’t a man with a too-good heart, ready to endanger his life to save another. And she was damn sure, he was not attracted to her, or was he? She was two minutes late when she reached the gate of the school. If she could hurry, she could reach before the teacher and save the embarrassment of walking into a silent class, with every eye on her. She was power walking to her class. The hallway was almost empty. She could hear her footsteps mixing with those of Mason’s. Outside her class, the teacher was inside and there was no use of hurry. “Would you bring me an energy bar after this class?” She asked and before he could answer, she was stepping inside. All of the organic chemistry was going above my head. It wasn’t that she didn’t like the subject. The problem was with the teacher. He was just too rude for her. Always so serious, and would glare at anyone even smiling for a moment. He had this notion that a classroom was a place to be only serious and even a small smile meant disrespect to him. He wasn’t very happy with Mason standing by the door, watching the entire class, but after reading the notice, he could do nothing but obey. The class ended with a loud bell. She had her stomach ache from hunger. And she was pretty sure Mason had not gone anywhere to bring her an energy bar. The next class was in ten minutes so she can hurry to the Cafe and back. While she packed her bag, Mason strolled inside and pulled out a wrapper. She looked at his offering hand which had a large chocolate bar inside. Her gaze instinctively moved to his face. His face was void of emotions as always. She took the chocolate and tear it open. Where did this come from? . . . Except for being late, her day was going well so far. She was wearing a black tank top, with blue jeans and a black and white striped shirt on her tank top, tied at the front. She paired it up with white sneakers. She would have worn her necklace but she was already late enough to find a matching. She had not been able to sleep last night and it had to go do with coffee. She loved coffee, but even half a cup kept her wide awake like an owl the whole night. That was the case last night too which made her end up oversleeping. Right now she was in the art room, sitting on the floor and sketching. Today was her meeting in the art club and she never missed it. She loved drawing. It was just for the peace of her mind. Mason was standing at the far end of the room, the corner closest to her, and had his eyes only on her. His eyes made her nervous to the extent she wasn’t able to hold the pencil correctly. The solution was she held the board standing straight in front of her face, with the help of her knees folded in front of her, hook sitting with her back to a cupboard. She had her hand lose on the board, her fingers moving to create a shape. Today’s topic was nature. People were sitting all across the room, some painting, some sketching, some sculpturing, some being digital with their laptops. Everyone doing what they had an interest in. Three hours later, Ella was snapped out of her gaze, “Damn girl, Wow,” She heard a girl from behind her and turned to look at her. “This is so beautiful,” She said and Eleanor smiled at her. She looked back at her board. There was a sketch of a jungle, with trees shaped as eyelashes, crows as eyebrows, and a river as the eye itself. One could see them merging into one another so beautifully. She tilted her at the sketch. She had no intention of drawing an eye. But the image of his eyes was clear in her mind, forcing her to draw them. And everything came out so beautifully. She had used his eyes for inspiration. His eyes were beautiful, and she kept wondering what she looked like in his eyes. Whilst wondering, she had drawn his. She got up from her sitting position. Her legs are weak from all the sitting she did. She moved her head to the side to look for him, but he was not there. Her gaze moved from left to right but there was nothing. She felt a warm breath on her neck and quickly turned her head to look. But because her legs were weak, so lost her balance and the board fell from her hand and she onto something. There was a hand holding her delicate waist. She quickly backed her head from his chest and looked up. The eyes she was dreaming about had been staring down at her. Indeed they were beautiful. She had a thing for beauty, and seeing it so up close had her heart skip several beats. Before the moment get too awkward for her, she backed away. “Are you okay?” He asked. “Umhmm,” She nodded her head, looking down at her feet. They seemed pretty amazing too right now. She caught a glance of people looking between her and Mason and she gulped. She loved attention but not of this kind. She lowered herself to her knees and picked up the board. She was done with her sketch and wanted to leave this place as soon as possible. She took her drawing to the Instructor for him to give her an overview. After leaving the entire class mesmerized by her sketch, she grabbed her bag, and sketch in one hand and her books in another. She was walking down the hallway, struggling with the stuff in her hands. “May I,” She heard his voice. He had a beautiful voice, she thought. Why he doesn’t speak more often? He had his gaze on the big board she was holding, his hand extended. “Oh! Yes, Thank you,” She said, handing him the board. “Hey,” She was called out by yet another person which made her turn again. It was Justin. She gulped looking at him coming towards her. He was wearing a sand-colored shirt and Grey jeans. “What are you doing here? Wasn’t your class over I mean three hours ago,” He asked her, passing her a stunning smile. Then his eyes fell on the sketch Mason was holding. “Oh!” He expressed, his smile widening. “What about you?” Ella asked, “Wasn’t your class over the same time around?” “I was in the library,” He said, making Ella raise her brows. She knew he loved reading. She would often see him holding some book with a beautiful cover and walking down the stairs, or sitting at the fat end of the College yard, with his eyes fixed on the pages. It would make him look more cute, and captivating even. “See you tomorrow,” He winked at her, making her stomach flip. Dear Lord! She was in great trouble.
