“I don’t think we’d have made it here without you,” she wheezed when he let go. Endred smiled his slow smile. “Cezon woulda done it in the end. He knows what’s moral. And he knows right well you’re the one who’ll save us all.” Viran offered his hand to shake Endred’s in thanks. Then Endred lumbered up the gangplank, and he was gone. “You!” A biting voice cut the air. Cezon was striding back from the end of the dock. “This is Gavoch Mezikh Marakhosh, second in command to the Kzar of the Dwarves. He’s an old pal of mine, so you better behave yourself.” Keriya bowed. “Hello, Gavoch. My name is—” “I know who you are,” said the dwarf. Keriya didn’t know if the harshness in his tone was simply because of his guttural accent, or because he hated her for what she’d done. “Oy,” barked Cezon.
