CHAPTER 1: THE MULTI ALPHA PRICE

788 Words
The rain pounded relentlessly against the reinforced glass of the underground auction house, but inside, the atmosphere was a stifling, predatory heat. Chloe pressed her back against the cold concrete wall of the holding cell, her breath coming in shallow, ragged gasps. The black silk slip dress she had been given felt like nothing more than cobwebs against her bare skin. She closed her eyes, trying to block out the muffled, booming voice of the auctioneer out on the main stage. She didn't want to be here. But when her brother’s crushing medical debts fell into the hands of the city's most ruthless underground loan sharks, they gave her a brutal ultimatum: pay the massive debt by midnight, or watch them tear her family apart. This was her only choice. She was selling six months of her absolute submission to the highest bidder. "Next up," the auctioneer’s slick voice cut through the sound of her racing heart. "Lot number forty-seven. Untouched, pure, and legally bound by contract. Let the bidding begin at one hundred thousand." The heavy iron door swung open, and two burly guards grabbed Chloe by her arms, dragging her out onto the blindingly lit stage. The lights hissed, temporarily blinding her. Beyond the stage lay a sea of absolute luxury and absolute darkness. The wealthiest, most dangerous men in the city sat hidden in the VIP balconies, looking at her like meat. "Two hundred thousand!" a voice called out from the left gallery. "Three hundred!" shouted another. Chloe’s chest heaved, her knuckles turning white as she gripped the edges of her dress. The reality of what she was doing was crashing down on her, suffocating her. Suddenly, the temperature in the room seemed to drop, replaced by a thick, heavy aura of sheer masculine dominance that made the hairs on Chloe’s arms stand up. "One million," a voice echoed from the central VIP box. It was deep, smooth as dark velvet, and carried a terrifying undercurrent of absolute power. The entire room went dead silent. Nobody dared bid against that voice. "Two million," a second voice chimed in from the exact same box. This one was rougher, laced with a dangerous, gravelly amusement. "And we take her tonight." The auctioneer didn't even hesitate. He slammed the gavel down. "Sold! To the High-Alpha Suite." The Wolf's Den Ten minutes later, the guards shoved Chloe into the penthouse suite at the top of the auction house and locked the heavy mahogany door behind her. The room was vast, dark, and smelled intensely of cedarwood, rain, and raw power. Standing near the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the glittering skyline were two men. They were impossibly tall, broad shouldered, and radiated an aura of pure, predatory danger. The one on the left, Julian, wore a flawlessly tailored charcoal suit. His features were sharp, aristocratic, and his eyes were the color of a stormy sea. Beside him stood Ethan—massive, brutally handsome, with a faint scar cutting through his jawline and golden eyes that practically glowed in the dim light. They weren't just business partners. They were Alphas. And they shared everything. Julian stepped forward first, his footsteps silent and deliberate. He stopped just inches from Chloe, his towering frame completely engulfing her in his shadow. The sheer heat radiating off his body made Chloe’s lower abdomen tighten with a sudden, confusing burst of ache. "Look at how she trembles," Julian murmured, his deep voice sending a shiver straight down her spine. He reached out, his long, elegant fingers brushing against her jawline, forcing her to tilt her head up. His touch felt like pure electricity, setting her skin on fire. "Are you afraid of us, little bird?" Before Chloe could answer, Ethan closed the distance, stepping up directly behind her. His massive chest pressed flush against her bare back, his heat instantly soaking through the thin silk of her dress. He leaned down, his breath hot against the sensitive skin of her neck. "She smells even better up close, Julian," Ethan growled softly, his large, calloused hand sliding around Chloe's waist, his grip possessive and unyielding. "The contract said we bought her time. But looking at her now... I think we bought far more." Chloe let out a soft, helpless whimper, trapped completely between the two forces of nature. Her heart was hammering against her ribs, caught in a terrifying, intoxicating vortex of pure physical desire. Julian’s thumb slowly traced her lower lip, pulling it down slightly as his eyes darkened with a heavy, unadulterated hunger. "Welcome to your new life, Chloe," Julian whispered, his face descending until his lips were just a breath away from hers. "Tonight, you learn exactly what it means to belong to two Alphas."
