What is wrong with me?
I can't like Shiyloh, she's my best friends sister!
It's wrong! It's like the first rule of the bro-code. You don't fall for your best friends sister.
But why does it feel so right then?
Why do I just want to be near her all the time, to hold her all the time?
I remembered when she came out of the pool earlier today, after I'd jumped in with her. She's looked absolutely beautiful. Her hair was darker because of the water and she looked flushed with shock, but as beautiful as ever. I couldn't stop staring at her. Even after she called my name. I realized that she saw me staring at her and I had to turn away. I ended up swimming to Rhys to try and distract myself. It was quite foolish, even more so when I got caught.
God Remus would kill me if he knew what I was thinking. Glad he's not here.
"Hey Jazz" And I spoke too soon.
I turned around and winced "Hey Mooney! What's up?" I tried to sound casual, like I wasn't falling in love with his sister.
Wait! Who said anything about Love?
Apparently I did.
Taking a breath I ran my fingers through my hair.
"Jazz?" Remus' voice knocked me out of my thoughts. Crap! I drifted off again.
"Y-yeah?" Stuttering?! Since when does Jasper Burton stutter?
"Are you alright mate?" Elliott asked as he and Rhys joined us. His hair was still wet from his shower.
"Fine" I sighed.
"You sure?" Rhys asked.
"Yes I'm fine!" I snapped.
Rhys shrunk back from me. I instantly felt bad for snapping at him, he'd only asked is I was okay. I shouldn't be so on edge.
"Sorry Mate." I apologized meekly.
"What's up Jazz?" Elliott asked.
"I-uh-. I have a problem" I said. A problem? Really? I had a huge problem.
"What's wrong?" Remus asked.
"There's this girl-"
"Hart?" Rhys inquired.
"No, another one. She's gorgeous. But her brother would kill me If I asked her out" I explained briefly “And I really like her, I really do. You can kinda see where the problem comes in.”
Remus looked murderous, Elliott looked curious and Rhys. . . Well he looked hungry. But what's up with Remus?
"Who is it?" Elliott asked.
"Um- That-that doesn't matter right now. What do I do about it?" I practically begged them. I must have looked absolutely desperate.
Remus saw this and his mood seemed to change a bit, not much, but it did change.
"Why not talk to her brother?" Remus suggested.
"Yeah, maybe I could do that."
If only it was just that easy. Her brother happened to be - while slightly shorter than me – one of the most intimidating people I knew, when he wanted to be, which was the scary thing about Remus.
"Jasper! Elliott! Remus! Rhys!" I heard the voice that made me go weak in the knees.
"Yeah Love?" Elliott replied, I glared at him, Remus did the same.
"Time to go!" Shiyloh stuck her head in the doorway. She had no make-up on, but that's what made her so beautiful. God, I sound like a teenage girl!
We all nodded and headed out to the car that Shiyloh had rented. On the way there, we grabbed what we thought we might need for our trip, including road snacks, and I locked up the house as he walked out. We approached the car from the long drive way, and the closer we got, the more excited for the trip I became. Sure it would involve a long car ride, but at least it wouldn't be boring.
Lily was in the back, reading a book and Shiyloh was in the front. Wait, the car had no roof!
"I call front seat!" Elliott and I chorused. we glared at each other then ran to the car. I got there first and jumped into the seat next to Shiyloh. She jumped. I laughed at her obliviousness. She grinned at me sheepishly.
"No fair! Shiy, I wanted front seat!" Elliott protested.
"Jazz got there first Elliott" Shiyloh said.
Elliott pouted and I stuck my tongue out at him childishly. Shiyloh rolled her dark brown eyes and once Remus brought out the suit cases, She put a key into the car ignition and it began rumbling. My heart jumped to my throat as it did this, but I didn't freak out as bad as Elliott did.
"AHHHHH!" Elliott shrieked "The car is shaking! Is that normal?" He exclaimed
"That's just the engine Elliott, it's perfectly normal" Shiyloh said patiently.
We pulled out from my driveway, mum and dad waving at us from the house.
We drove up and onto a highway, Elliott freaking out at every little thing, Rhys was asleep and Remus and Lily were discussing books. Nerds.
Shiyloh took her eyes off the road for a moment and turned on the radio, a song came on and Shiyloh beamed and Lily did the same. It seemed to be one that they knew well, as they instantly began singing it.
Shiyloh and Lily began singing along to the song and I have to say, they sounded really good. The song was really awesome and groovy. Elliott and I were dancing in our seats as the song came and went.
"Lily and I love these guys!" Shiyloh told us.
"They have some really good songs!" Lily stated.
Then another song came on and Lily and Shiyloh seemed to love it just as much as the last.
I have to admit, I liked it better than the last one, It didn't have the same groove, but i still liked it. It was a bit more romance-y than the other one though.
The next one though. I must say that I think Elliott and I wet our pants. Shiyloh, of course cause Lily wouldn't dare, sang the swears. It was a song about racist people and how they were horrible, which I happened to agree on.
It was quite the funny song though and by the time it ended, even Remus was laughing.
"That was Hilarious!" I exclaimed.
"Thanks" Lily and Shiyloh said. Lily did a little bow in her seat, but Shiyloh didn't as she was driving.
Elliott leaned forward and whispered something in Shiyloh ear, she giggled and nodded. I couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy. But when I heard the last song that they played. I laughed more than last time. I wondered how Elliott knew it, but didn't question it as I did enjoy the song.
This one Elliott and Shiyloh sang and even Lily, who looked thoroughly disgusted at the song about animals, laughed. It was definitely going to be a good trip.
I looked over at Shiyloh and watched as she concentrated on the road, her eyes focused, despite the face that she was smiling and talking to Remus and Elliott. She looked at me out of the corner of her eye, saw me watching her and looked back to the road as her cheeks turned red.
I looked at Elliott through the rear-view mirror and he gave me a look like he knew what I was talking about earlier, a look that told me he knew and understood. I shook my head and made a face at him through the mirror. He made another funny face and shrugged his shoulders.
