It was eight in the morning on September first and you know probably know what that means.
I ran to the boys room where they were all sleeping. Elliott had his head hanging off the bed and his legs on the walls, half lifted against the platform. His feet must have been completely numb.
Jasper was almost completely on the floor, his legs were on the bed and his head was covered by his blanket. When I walked in, for a moment I thought that he'd broken his neck.
Remus looked as if he hadn't moved all night. He looked like a human plank of wood, there was no proof that he had moved throughout the night, his hair was still quite neat, the blankets were perfectly tucked around him.
I bit the inside of my cheek and lifted the muggle camera that Remus had given me for our birthday. I snapped photo's of them all then put the camera down in Remus' trunk so that I wouldn't for get it. I took a deep breath.
"ELLIOTT SOMEONE BURNED YOU'RE HAIR OFF. REMUS WE'RE OUT OF CHOCOLATE AND JASPER SOMEONE CHANGED ALL YOUR CLOTHES TO DRESSES!!!" I screamed.
Elliott jumped out of his bed yelling. Jasper started searching his closet and Remus was used to this by now, so he just sat up. Me, on the other hand, I was on the floor laughing. When they heard me laughing, they turned around and looked at me, Elliott realized that his hair was fine, a little messy from the shock but otherwise fine, and Jasper had discovered that his clothes were the exact same as they were the night before. Remus just stared at me, a very unimpressed expression covering his face.
"Shiyloh!" They protested
"Come on! It's my first day at Beaverstone and I want to be there in time!" I shouted "Come on Soldiers! Let's Move Move Move Move Move!" I pretended I was a general in the military.
"Sir Yes Sir!" They chorused, jumping up and starting to get ready. Remus had made the boys pack all of their belongings the night before, even though we'd had our stuff packed for a few nights. I was extremely excited to go to Beaverstone.
I'd always wanted to go, and I would have gone ages ago if my “mother” had let me. I always fantasized about which house I would be put into, what kind of friends I would make, the classes I could take. It all made me feel giddy inside, giddy, yet nervous at the same time. I walked out of their room to let them do what they needed to and checked my assigned bedroom to make sure that I had put everything back where it had been when I'd moved in. The bed was perfectly made, the floors were swept, I'd cleaned the mirror and windows, making sure that there weren't any fingerprints on them. I checked under the bed one last time to make sure that nothing had escaped me under there. Happy with the way that it looked, I walked out.
I skipped down stairs to see Euphemia. She smiled at me.
"Are the boys up?" She asked
"Yup!" I said brightly.
"Do have everything? Clothes? Books? Cauldron? Wand?" She fretted. I felt my chest get warm and heat rise up to my cheeks.
Ever since I got here, Euphemia has been like the mum I always wanted. I absolutely loved that she was being a mother to me, taking care of me and making sure that I was okay. It made me feel cared for.
"Yeah, they're all upstairs" I smiled. She smiled back at me.
"Remember to owl me if there's a problem, and that you and Remus are staying here for Christmas okay?"
"I'll remember" I told her.
Euphemia then pulled me into a hug, I hesitated then hugged her back. It felt good, the caring motherly hug was something I had missed out of, but I definitely appreciated it.
"Aw! look!" Jasper cooed as he and the other boys came into the kitchen. I blushed harder and pulled away from the hug, tucking my hair behind my ear and leaning down to get my trunk.
“Are you guys ready to go?” I asked them quietly.
“Remmy, how do we get to the train? The station is filled with Mundanes.” I said quietly.
“There's a room not far from here, follow me and I'll show you where it it.”
We approached a room, the door was covered with bright yellow police tape across the frame, blocking it off from all entrance. Remus looked around us and made sure that no one was looking, before putting the tip of his wand to the frame. Under the door frame glowed with a red light for a second and the door popped open, police tape and all. Inside was a long hallways, and at the end was a large room, from what I could tell from this far away.
“Come on, we don't want to be late.” Remus said, jogging his trolley down the hallway. I followed him, struggling to keep up and push my trolley at the same time. At the end of the hallway, was another section of train station, hidden completely away from the Mundanes.
"Come on Shiy!" Remus urged me along. I opened my eyes again and let myself relax.
We dropped off our luggage at the front of the train and went to find a compartment. Remus had my hand and was pulling me along. We entered another section of the train and it was filled with people, more than I thought possible to fit in one small space.
So me being me, I let people push past me and I lost Remus in the crowd of people.
I have to admit, that even if I didn't want to be, I was frightened by all the people, I was starting to feel claustrophobic. Everyone seemed to stare at me as I pushed by, some shouted, others ignored me. I felt like the walls were closing in and I quickly knocked on the closest compartment door. I needed to get out of the crowd, my shoulders hurt from being knocked into. I heard a reply and when I opened it there was a girl with shortish red hair like mine and green eyes, and a boy with shoulder length black hair and brown eyes. I felt a sudden wave of shyness overwhelm me and I looked to the floor. My hands began to shake and I was sudden extremely nervous.
"I'm sorry to interrupt, but I've lost my brother and was wondering if I could sit with you?" I asked quietly.
"Sure!" The girl said brightly. I smiled at her and the boy and sat down next to the girl.
"I'm Lily Hart" She introduced
"I'm Shiyloh Lawrence" I was surprised when he pulled me into a short hug instead of shaking hands.
"That's Judas Powell." She told me.
I waved at him, smiling.
"Lawrence? Like Remus Lawrence?" He asked.
"He's my twin brother" I told him.
"I didn't know Remus had a sister" Lily told me.
"I've been going to Salem for the past few years, I transferring this year" I told them "So what can you tell me about Beaverstone? I read A Brief History of Beaverstone, but I'm a bit confused about the houses"
"Oh!" Lily started "There are four houses, Voyage, Thorne, Lovelace and Evilian. Thorne gets the smartest most people say, but it's also for the logical and the wise, Lovelace is the kindest and most loyal, Evilian is the curious and sly, Voyage is the bravest and the most courageous.” She explained to me.
"When your name get called you go up and sit on a stool, the hat will judge you and put you in the house best for you" Judas told me,
"What are you in?" I asked
"I'm Voyage and Judas is in Evilian. Those two houses usually don't get along.”
"With my personality I'll go to the house for potatoes" I joked and they laughed.
A little bit later, Lily, Judas and I were chatting more about Beaverstone and the classes that I could take, when the compartment door opened, revealing Jasper, Remus, Elliott and Rhys.
"Lily-Bear! Will you go out with me?" Jasper asked.
"How many times have I told you NO Burton?" Lily yelled.
"Shiy! This is where you disappeared of to!" Remus said to me "Glad you're with Lily and not Mercer" He stated.
"I'm glad to have met Lily and Judas" I smiled. The aforementioned people smiled at me in appreciation.
"Sorry Lily-Bear! But we're going to be stealing Shiyloh for a while!" Jasper said. Elliott threw me over his shoulder and carried me out. I felt the blood rush to my head as I watched the floor go by as he walked.
"AH! HELP! PERSON BEING KIDNAPPED!" I shouted. People looked out from their compartments, but I guess when they knew that since it was Jasper, Elliott, Remus and Rhys, that it was nothing really bad.
"We're not kidnapping you Shiy" Remus chuckled.
“I'm being taken somewhere without my consent, this is kidnapping.” But I let them take me away.
When we got to the compartment, the boys left me to change into my robes and they came back just in time to see the Beaverstone castle appear in the dark distance. It was absolutely stunning, light coming from inside illuminated the outside surface, giving it a mysterious air to it.
I'm going to love it here.
