We waited a couple of days to be certain the big extraterrestrial had settled into the pregnancy and for Dr. Knight to regain his energy and sense of wellbeing, and then he, Ric’u, and Maggie and its offspring sailed with us to Manaus. We said goodbye on the Josie, and made our way to the airport, where we produced Da”s fake passport and my genuine one. His uncle was holding Da”s actual passport, and we’d pick it up when we arrived in Connecticut.
Almost nineteen hours later, our jet landed at Newark Airport, where we would catch our final connecting flight, and since we just had our holdalls and had stored them in the overhead bin, we were able to go directly to customs.
