Chapter 35Toby Even though it terrifies me, it feels good to let it all out, to tell Kai everything. As time passes, I miraculously find that the knot in my stomach starts to loosen. It’s long overdue, so I tell him how Arjun and I met, how we connected and evolved into more, starting a relationship. I explain to Kai how I hoped Arjun could come out to his family one day or—the other possibility—that we would move to a different town together and start over. But what actually happened, that Jonah’s mates attacked me when they saw Arjun and I kiss, and that Arjun fled the moment danger loomed, never once occurred to me before it happened. No more lies and secrets, Kai just said, and he wants me to explain why I lied. He has the right to know, but it’s another topic I don’t look forward to
