Chapter 37Kai
For the last few minutes, neither of us has said a word. I think Toby might be falling asleep, and part of me doesn’t want to let him. If the circumstances were different, I would have happily dozed off beside him, but there are more things I need to discuss with him first.
“Toby?” I say softly.
He stirs, his eyes fluttering open. At the sound of my voice, he moves his head back to look at me, and his eyes widen when they meet mine, recognizing the seriousness in them.
“There’s something I have to say to like, level our expectations.”
