Chapter Three “Well, come on now, honey, open it up,” Wanda insisted. The older woman had come around the back of the counter now, setting her empty tray in the window. “Whatcha waiting for?” Valerie really wasn’t sure why she was hesitating. It was probably nothing. The mysterious box that had somehow appeared under the counter was likely a joke or someone playing a trick on her. Nevertheless, Valerie was hopeful as she carefully slid the small, white envelope open, that something magical was about to happen. The card was pink with a red heart on the front, not more than an inch or so square. She opened it to find a typed message pasted inside.
