Chapter Eleven
The drive to Berryville had been full of replays; asking Valerie out had been one of the only snap decisions Alec had ever made in his life, and it definitely hadn’t gone well. But by the time he reached the high school and went in to talk to the principal, Mr. Lewis, about where to set up, he had other things on his mind. He would lose himself in the music and the smiles on the kids’ faces, saving more anxiety about Valerie’s response for the ride home.
It never took him too long to get set up, but tonight he got a little help from a few of the chaperones carrying everything in from his Subaru, and his equipment was ready to go well before the kids began to file into the gymnasium.
