Chapter 11

“What are you doing here!?” I yelled as I raced in picking Raphael up by his throat. “Alex! Stop it! Why are you here?” I could hear her heart starting to race. “Why am I here? Why is he here!?” Raphael was struggling to breathe let alone talk. The nerve he has coming here. She does not even know what he did and what his true intentions were. Only I know. Only I can protect her. I thought to myself. “Look at me Alex, put him down!” I turned my head to her and dropped Raphael. “You need to explain to me why you are here.” She demanded in a matter-of-fact tone of voice. “I…I felt you, you were…it felt like you were…” I walked to her grabbing her face I hung my head down. “What are you doing to me?” I put my other hand on the other side of her face and pulled her head to mine, leaning my head onto hers. “Well, I think I will just see myself out.” Raphael said as he stared at the two of us. She pulled away from me and walked Raphael out the door. Why is she so nice to him!? After everything he has done to us. “Just be careful, He isn’t Alessandro, he is a different person entirely.” I heard him say as he glanced at me with a smirk on his face. I knew she had not even noticed the way he looked after me. It was like he was daring me to crush his windpipe and I would love nothing more than to oblige. “Thank you for tonight and thank you for your concern. I’m a big girl though, I can handle myself.” She said as she closed the door. She paused hesitantly before she turned to look at me. “Do you…are you hungry? Or thirsty…I can fix you something to drink.” She said as she motioned toward the refrigerator. “No but thank you. I should…I should go.” I said as I smiled at her. I just needed to know that she was okay. “Wait, why did you break up with Lorraine? Now she is calling me a homewrecker, just to add to the list of names everyone calls me already.” She asked as if she did not already know. She knew, she just wanted me to say it. “I think you know the answer to that.” I said as I walked over toward her. She started to back up but before she could I was right in front of her. “What are you doing to me?” I bent down to kiss her, and she turned her head. It stung to think she was rejecting me. How was she so cool headed about this? “I am not doing anything to you. Why are YOU doing this to ME?” She really had no idea what she was doing to me. “I want you, and I think you want me.” I said to her completely serious. I wanted her to know that I did not take any of this lightly. I just wanted to touch her. Her scent alone was driving me insane. Then she looked after me with such yearning it made my heart pound aggressively in my chest. “We can’t do this. This, can’t happen.” She said hesitantly. It was almost as if she was telling herself. “Why not? Maybe we should, maybe it will end differently this time. This is why you cursed the town, for this, for us.” I grabbed her waist and pulled her to me. “I am tired of fighting this; aren’t you?” I said as I tightened my grasp around her waist. She pulled herself from my grasp. “I just don’t think this is a good idea. These feelings aren’t our own.” “Yes, they are, in a matter of speaking. Our past lives, who we were then, is much of who we are now. Since I first saw you a couple weeks back, I have not been able to stop thinking of you. I can’t fight this anymore and I don’t want to.” I was trying to sound confident and not some whiny little schoolgirl, but I was almost positive I sounded like the latter. “Why were you not at school yesterday?” She asked. “I had some prepping to do for my ascension. I am to ascend the throne in a month. You will be there, won’t you?” I asked as I smiled, preparing for her to say she was not going. “Wow, ascending the throne. King Alex?” She said as if it were a joke. She still wasn’t conceiving any of this. We ARE royalty. The both of us. “Yeah, I believe I will have to go by Alessandro for official purposes. You didn’t answer me; will you be there?” “I will be there.” She said smiling. As she agreed to being there my face lit up and my entire demeanor changed. I hoped that she had not noticed. We both sat down on the couch laughing and carrying on, I lost all track of time. Realizing it was so late she stood up. “It is getting late; I have to get some rest. Will I see you at school today?” Standing up and taking the hint, I walked over to the door as she followed. “Yes princess, I will be there. Goodnight Katerina.” I said as I kissed her hand. Katerina That evening waking up to go to school I realized I had overslept a bit. Class started at seven, and it was currently six thirty. When I got to school, everyone was watching me whispering to each other. What could they possibly be talking about now? I had almost forgotten that I was apparently a homewrecker. I looked up to see Alex smiling down at me from atop the steps as I approached. I felt my blood rush to my head, and my heart started to race. I absolutely hate that he has that effect on me, and he obviously enjoys every minute of it. Rolling my eyes, I walked right past him and into school. Lost in thought I ran into Lowlife Lorraine. “Watch where you’re going, homewrecker.” Lorraine said as she smirked at me. “Lorraine, give it a rest, will you? I am not an ‘Evil Queen’, and I most certainly am not a homewrecker. Have you ever thought that maybe he dumped you because you’re a b***h?” Everyone gathered around, yet again, to watch another ‘battle’ between me and Lorraine. It really was getting tiresome going through this with her every day. This was really starting to feel like I was in a drama. I started to think she just liked all the attention. ‘Poor Lorraine’; I thought to myself. “You will regret that statement, homewrecker!” Lorraine said as she turned to walk away. Just as I thought it was over, I heard someone calling my name. “Katerina! Wait up princess.” It was Alex, as if it could not get any worse. I had just had a full conversation about how I am not a homewrecker. Then, the man of the home I swore I did not wreck, comes calling on me. Lorraine turned around at the sound of his voice and puckered her lips. “I hope you two will be very happy together.” She said sarcastically as she ran down the hall. “We aren’t together!” It was too late, she was gone. I do not even understand why I care what Lorraine thought of me. All the name calling, I should be with Alex just to spite her. It was too bad that I do not have the heart to be that type of person. “Alex, what do you want?” I asked as I tried to keep my composure. “I told you, I want you.” He said smiling at me. I should have been turned off by his cockiness, instead, I could not help but admire his persistence. Not to mention that smile of his. “Welcome to class your majesties. Take your seats.” Yet again I was late to class because of Low-life Lorraine and Alex. The entire class I could feel Alex watching me. What is more, I could feel Lorraine’s eyes burning holes in the back of my head because of it. I heard whispering behind me and knew Lorraine was talking about me. The bell rang, and I jumped out of my seat trying to avoid Alex and Lorraine. I really did not want to deal with either of them. “Princess, you can’t avoid me forever.” Alex called out to me as I ran. “I can try.” I responded as I ran right into him. “You really have got to stop doing that super speed thing.” I said as I rubbed my head and tried to walk past him. “If you would stop trying to run away from me, then I would.” He said teasingly. “Look, Lorraine has made it her soul mission to ruin my life here at school, and I don’t like what happens when I’m pushed too far. Crazy things have been happening lately.” “What does that have to do with you and I?” Alex asked as he raised a curious brow. Turning to face him, stopping him in his tracks, I realized I had to be honest. “I want you more than I have ever wanted anything. I do not understand it, but I know that is how I feel. I know that I could be with you and it would make my life so much easier. I have a lot to consider and a lot to think about. Can you just give me some space today?” He grabbed my hand and he bent down to kiss it. “Very well Princess, I will give you as much time as you need.” He said as he looked into my eyes. “Thank you.” I walked away, feeling a hint of satisfaction now that I was open and honest about my feelings with him. I smiled at the thought of being with him. It would uncomplicate my life immensely. I just had a lot to consider regarding the entire situation. As the day went on, I had not seen Alex since earlier in the night. I was extremely impressed with his respectfulness of my request. I asked for space and he gave it to me. At the end of school, I was walking out the door and saw Lorraine standing by the pillars, giggling, and pointing. Am I in kindergarten? I thought to myself. “Hey homewrecker! Where are you going in such a hurry? Running off to wreck someone else’s relationship?” “Knock it off Lorraine, I didn’t break up with you because of anything that Katerina did. I did it because I don’t want to be with you anymore.” I turned to see Alex standing just a few feet away from Lorraine. “You didn’t feel like that until SHE got here!” She was screaming at him and I did not like it at all. I felt the wind starting to pick up and told myself to calm down. “Lorraine, you have got to get over yourself and this stupid vendetta you have with me. You don’t know anything about me, but you are getting really close to finding out.” I said as I started to walk away. I was going to be the bigger person, but Lorraine just had to have the last word. “Yeah, okay w***e, go curse some other unsuspecting town. While you are at it, go steal someone else’s boyfriend, you’re good at that.” All I wanted to do at that point was to wipe that ugly ass smirk off of Lorraine’s fat face. Why would she keep provoking me? In my defense, I tried being the better person. I tried to walk away, but that was the last straw. Before I could stop myself, I realized I was walking, rather fast, toward Alex. “If you’re going to call me a homewrecker I might as well be one.” I walked straight up to Alex, grabbed his head as I kissed him passionately. He was not expecting that to happen, but it did not take long for him to get with the program. He grabbed my waist pulling me closer to him. I wanted Lorraine to hurt, I wanted her to feel what I felt. I have had enough of being accused of things I was not and doing things I had not done. If I am to be held guilty when I had not done what I so desperately wanted to do, I might as well do as I want and not fight it any longer. All at once I stopped and looked at Lorraine. Her mouth had dropped, and her eyes were blood red. I could all but see the steam coming from her ears. ‘Mission accomplished’, I thought to myself. I grabbed Alex’s hand as I walked away, and he happily followed. “What was all of that about? Does this mean you’re my girl now?” He asked as he grinned ear to ear. “At first, I didn’t realize what I was doing until I had gotten close to you.” I really did not understand why I did that. I wanted to but I was in a constant battle with myself about not doing that. The second I felt like throwing my hands up in defeat, it was like my urges took over. Maybe it was my past self, taking over. Is that possible? I thought to myself. “I think you knew exactly what you were doing.” He said with a smirk on his face. “Alright Mr. Cocky, don’t get a big head.” I pushed him playfully. He placed himself in front of me, stopping me in my tracks. “So, are you my girl now?” “I…I don’t know…” I said as I turned my head trying desperately not to make any more eye contact with him. “Let me help you figure it out.” He picked me up with no effort at all and kissed me. I felt as if I could kiss him and never need to come up for air. It felt so right, I have to be with him. As he let me down and pulled his lips from mine, he held my chin in his hand lifting my face to look in my eyes. “So, what do you say princess? Will you be mine?” The way he talked to me was just so smooth. How was he so nonchalant about all of this? Smiling, I bit my bottom lip and gave him the only response that I could. “Maybe, you can court me, and we will see.” He touched my lip, “Just one thing first.” I was confused at what he was talking about. “Okay…what?” “Don’t bite your lip like that unless you are inviting me to your bed.” He said as he laughed. I pushed him playfully and laughed with him. “It’s a nervous habit, I can’t help it.” I said as I dropped my head down biting my lip again. The thought of being with him in that way sent a wave of electricity through my body. I had yet to be intimate with anyone and the thought honestly rarely ever crossed my mind. The simple thought of him, though, made me feel like I was starting puberty all over again. “You aren’t going to make this easy for me, are you Princess?” Before I had a chance to respond I noticed he had walked me all the way home. I shrugged my shoulders as I opened my door. “I guess you will have to find out, won’t you?” He stepped in my doorway. “One more thing.” He kissed me on the cheek and then he stepped back. “Goodnight Katerina, I will see you tomorrow.” “Goodnight, Alessandro.” I said as I closed the door smiling back at him. I leaned up against the door and touched my cheek where Alex had kissed me. He was so gentle with me. It was hard to think of him as a vampire.
