I breathe a sigh of relief as we drive away from the palace. Though I am worried about my pack, I am glad Nova will be safe. My father puts his hand on my lap.
“Are you alright, son?” He asks.
I nod, “Yeah. I mean, not really. I need to get home, but I am happy that Nova will be safe.”
“No harm will come to her there,” Magnus adds.
I settle in for the ride back to Silverstar Springs. As we get closer, I feel the pain of my pack. I have sensed a few deaths, and it makes me angry. Kael is fighting mad in my head by the time we reach the border. No one is at the gate, and I see smoke rising above the tree line. I open the door and lunge out of the vehicle. I shift and run as fast as I can towards the raging battle. ‘Abel, Karl, I’m here,’ I mind link them.
