252 Words
Dec 13, 2025 A guard handed Lena the keys to her office. "The key has the same sugn as the trophy I will receive, I wonder why is that?" Kai followed behind her, bouncing with excitement for Lena "How's my Four-eyed Shakespeare doing? You'll get your own office now, - that's pretty cool" he said pulling out a chocolate snackbar, the one she loved, though she always forgot to eat. "This has always been my dream, to be...." "An editor?" he finished smiling softly at her. "I'm still your trainer, give me some credit!" he says smirking at her. "Yeah" she whispered, her hand hovering over the office door. It was faded and wooden, with a small plaque that read: EIC, 1995 an underneath, scratched and covered in dust, M. Castillo - 2014 Kai creeped up behind her, looking curiously at the door as if there was a portal inside it. Lena took a deep breath and slid the key into the lock. It clicked open with a sound that echoed down the empty hallway. The office was exactly as it had been left - papers stacked on the desk, an old typewriter in the corner, and on the windowsill... a yellowed envelope. "It's an unsent letter" Lena cautiously opened the letter. Kai, who was busy munching on the snackbar (he noticed she was too busy to eat anyways) "Mysterious huh..." Lena read aloud. "The quill will recover the things we failed to discover" Then, there came a knock at the door.
