Chapter 4: Damn Surprise

1073 Words
My head was aching from last night, sneaking out of Mr. Alex's hotel room and straight to my room. I couldn't allow Mom to see me like that last night; hopefully, she was already sleeping. "Who the hell is that?" I screamed my lungs out, when the door knocked. Scrawling off from the bed, I wiped my eyes as I walked over to the door. "It's me, Ma," Linda said, my favorite maid. I don't joke around. "Alright... Please come in," I said, sliding the door open for her while she hopped inside. Still, her eyes scanned every bit of my room. "Here, scent alcohol," she said suddenly, leading me to cover my mouth firmly. "Please don't tell Mom about that," I said, pleading; even though she was my maid, Mom will believe every damn thing she complained to her about me. "I wouldn't promise," she said, revealing her index finger as I smiled at her. "I almost forgot, what brought you here?" Asked as my senses flew back. "Mrs. Curts requested you for breakfast," she said. "Alright, I'll be in in a minute, thank you," I said as she nodded before walking out. I took a deep breath, scratching my back at my door, with my head low beneath. The strength to brush all this alcohol scent away wasn't going to be easy. With weak legs, I walked over to my bathroom, cleaning over everything I could wipe. Slide the door closed after I was done with everything. I walked down the staircase, but suddenly my body paused. "What the hell!" "Mom!" I screamed my lungs out, seeing my mom kissing a damn man, and not just that, but a stranger I barely knew. Mom heard my voice, and she panicked, pulling her body off the man. Her eyes rolled in fear, her hands wrapped around her open chest, and her lips swayed in motion. "What's wrong?" The man said, but suddenly my eyes widened hearing the familiar voice. "Mom...what the hell is going on here?" I asked her, with my teeth nagging in anger. "I can explain... please sit!" She said, bringing a seat toward me. But just as I thought, the gentleman lifted his face, and my heart skipped a beat. "You!" The words slipped as Mr. Alex stared at me with shock, and then he smiled at me. What the hell is wrong with this manipulator? Why can't he, for once, be normal, smiling when I'm ready to tarnish his image? "I almost forgot—my sunshine met Mr Alex, my new lover, and, Mr. Alex, please meet my lovely daughter, Jasmine," she said with a smile. "I don't need him here at all, this camouflage man?" Just as my eyes rolled at Mr. Alex. "Bammmm" My left cheek felt pain, and as I held it with tears dripping down my cheeks, my mom just slapped the hell out of me. "Mom..." I started sobbing my eyes out while I rolled my eyes at Mr. Alex, who stood there without any actions. "I will do that again; have some respect!" Listening to Mom's words, it was sure Mom would believe every damn thing from this betrayal here. "I can't do this anymore." I tried walking over, but my wrist got held. I turned over to see the shiny blue eyes in front of me instead of seeing the sexy man, but what I saw was a beast in anger. "Ask for forgiveness from your mom right now!" He yelled at me, his voice scary as it shook me. "You're joking, right?" I asked, but instead, he tightened up his wrist while I cried in pain. Mom stood there without caring, her eyes fixed on me as she stared at me. "Do it now!" He said it again, but this time I was fed up with everything. I successfully pulled my wrist off his body as I glanced at Mom and then at him. "You can never be my stepfather, even a bit!" I yelled at him and then saw Mom walk over to lay another slap. "That's what you always do!" I yelled at Mom as Mr. Alex held her back while she screamed as he held her with his broad shoulder firmly. I sassed before walking out of the house, even with my nightwear still on me. I didn't care much; all I needed was to dash out of the so-called mom's house. I moved outside, without my car or anyone to help me out. I strode down the cold, with my eyes rolling at every corner. I have been scared to move alone after been kidnapped when I was 5 years old, and since then, the trauma has been inside of me. But suddenly, still in my thoughts, my legs slipped, leading me to the ground. I screamed in pain while staring at my wounded leg. It was painful, but not like what Mom did; I cried in pain. People on the street stared at me as if I was crazy; some walked toward me as they held my hands over. They helped me stand up, and I thanked them before sitting on the street bench. "s**t!" I said as the fresh breeze blew directly into my wet wounds, squeezing my body firmly while waiting for the bus. Then immediately, after minutes of getting myself back. I walked over to enter the taxi I took while I wrapped my legs up. A few minutes passed, and I hopped outside the car while waving at the driver with a smile. In front of the Zara hostel, it's been a long time since I came here. I walked over inside the tall building, seeing a lot of students running up and down in a rush. I took a deep breath immediately. I reached Zara's room and knocked but got no response. "She left." A young student spoke behind me as I turned. Staring at him, with some takeaway food inside his white nylon, he wore his house clothes. "When?" I asked again, and he smiled. "An hour ago, I guess!" He said. I sighed in frustration, with my head wrapped around what he just said. I laid my back at her door as I pulled my hands out of the handbag. I tried dialing Zara's number, but the more I tried finding her number, the more I couldn't feel my eyes anymore as they became blurry and shut down.
