Chapter Fifteen

1597 Words
Eleanor’s POV “Get the f**k off me!” I shouted, yanking my wrist out of his grip. I then quickly turned and swung my fist at Dominic’s face. I saw his surprise as my fist connected with his nose, breaking it. Blood spurted out and began spewing everywhere. With the confusion building, I took the opportunity to sprint towards the door– the door I was hoping Dominic didn’t know that I knew about. I tried my best to be discreet as I located the seam of the door that was peeking out behind a picture. Candy had told me that this was how he transported his “product” during auctions. Reaching the picture, I moved it to the side, pulled open the door, and slipped inside. I wasn’t paying close enough attention to notice whether anyone had seen me, but it was only a matter of time before someone figured it out. I raced down the hallway and sped down the stairs, startling the waitress that was coming up. She reached for her pocket, but I took her down seconds later, careful to only incapacitate her and not to kill her. Skipping over her slumped form, I continued down the stairs until I found myself in another hallway. Doors surrounded me on either side, and I frowned, knowing it’d be a crap-shoot as to where Alexander was. Reaching the first door on my right, I opened it. I prepared myself to jump at the nearest moving person, but was only greeted by boxes and empty containers. Letting out a small sigh of relief, I swiftly closed the door and headed towards the next. “ELEANOR!” Dominic bellowed. “s**t,” I whispered to myself. “I know you’re looking for him! Don’t bother!” he continued to shout. Running to the next door, I opened it as well. Again, I found nothing but boxes and storage. Cursing under my breath, I went across the hallway. I heard Dominc’s heavy footsteps coming down the stairs. My time was running out very quickly. Swinging the door open, two of Dominic’s men gave me startling looks. Feeling my heart rate explode, I slammed the door shut and hoped they wouldn’t come after me. I heard Dominic’s laugh behind me at the beginning of the hallway. “Your search will be futile, my little alpha.” I raced down the end and went for the last door. I sent prayers to the Moon Goddess and then opened the door. My heart both sank and soared as I looked down at my mate. He had clearly been beaten and was lying face down on the ground. There was a pool of blood under his head. Stepping in, I quickly closed the door and found a chair to attempt to barricade the door. I knew it wasn’t much, but there was little else in the room. Once I placed it, I went straight for Alexander and ripped off his blindfold. He grunted and winced, but otherwise seemed vaguely awake. “My love, it’s me. Hold on while I try to figure out a plan. Just hang in there,” I quietly mumbled into his ear after giving him a small kiss on his temple. “El…I’m sorry,” Alexander grunted out. “Shh,” I soothed. “I know. Let’s talk after. Once we’re safe.” I saw the silver of the cuffs digging into his skin, making him bleed. I stifled my anger until I could properly channel it into a fight. “Break,” Alexander mumbled. “What?” I asked, worried. “Thumbs. Break,” he stated. Understanding donned on me as I looked down at his wrists. He wanted me to break his thumbs in order to get out of the silver handcuffs. I hesitated for a moment, not wanting to agree. Someone banged on the door after trying the handle and not getting in, which startled me from my task. “Eleanor!” Dominic shouted. “Whatever you’re thinking, it isn’t going to work. You’re trapped in there, so just open the door and we’ll talk it out.” Turning my attention back to my slumped over mate, I made the decision to do as he wished. With two sickening, crunching sounds, and a muffled groan from Alexander, I freed him from the silver cuffs and threw them to the side. I then took a hard look around the room, hoping to find something that could help me get out of the room. I noticed a few boxes and quickly rummaged through them. Finding nothing except a few old dishes and a hammer, I decided to just go for and ram myself into the wall. It was better than nothing. Right before I geared myself up to run full-on into this wall, I heard a loud bang, followed by, “Eleanor? Are you in there?” Berty. I waited a few seconds before pulling the chair away and unlocking the door. Peeking out of the c***k I created when opening the door, I did indeed see Berty standing there with Candy right behind him and three bodies at his feet. It was dusty, and I had to squint to see them. “Smoke bomb,” Berty proudly stated. “Never fails. I knocked them out, but we’d better go.” I didn’t wait a moment longer before hefting Alexander up and making him lean on me as we left the room. Berty got on his other side, and together we walked Alexander to the stairs. “I have to find Brit, and that Fae girl. I’m not leaving anyone behind,” I said. Berty nodded as Candy took over for me. I watched for a moment as they began climbing the stairs. Then, I turned back and ran over to the other closed doors. I stayed to the left, hoping that all the people would be kept on the same side. I opened the first door on the left this time and found Brit hunched over, biting off her ropes. “Hey!” she perked up, holding her hands out to me. “Help me!” Shifting one of my hands into claws, I easily sliced through her ropes, and we watched them fall to the floor. “You have amazing timing,” she grinned. “Where is he? Where’s Alex?” “Already safe,” I answered, and walked back out the door. I noticed Dominic and his men beginning to stir, so I rushed over to them and punched both the underlings in the face, knocking them back out again. As I reached over to do the same to Dominic, he grabbed my wrist and jerked me towards him. “Ugh, not again,” he grumbled. I slammed against his chest and tried to escape his grasp, but he only tightened as I wriggled around. “Brit, I could use some help here!” I pleaded, glancing over my shoulder at her. Dominic laughed while holding onto me as he stood us up. “Still as trusting as ever. You know, I’ve been keeping tabs on you, and I learned about the other betrayals you’ve gone through. I’m surprised to still see you trusting those you’ve just met.” “I don’t trust you,” I spat. His face became grave as he said, “Yet, I’m the one person who you should trust.” Shaking my head, I looked around. Brit wasn’t making a move in my direction. In fact, she was grinning wildly and had a strange gleam in her eyes. I then sighed, feeling absolutely defeated. “You’re not over him, Brit, are you? All of that was fake. Alex was never going to be sold off. He was bait, and I fell for it easily,” I weakly stated. I felt totally exhausted as I watched Brit’s smug face nod at me. “Guess my Alexi wasn’t wrong when he said that you’re not an i***t. He knew you’d come for us. You just always have to be the hero, don’t you? It was gross to watch. And, on top of that, you made him feel badly for having been with me without telling you? What kind of jealous b***h are you? Ridiculous,” Brit laughed. A growl from Dominic shut her up immediately, though. “Don’t ever speak to her like that.” I stiffened in his arms. “You’re a werewolf?” I then asked, suddenly feeling his presence and smelling his scent. “Why couldn’t I sense you before?” “I mask it because of my line of work,” he replied with a sigh. “I hate that you can’t remember me.” “I hope I never do,” I said coldly. Dominic sighed once more before taking my face in between his head. “I’ll make the offer one more time. I’m feeling generous or maybe just nostalgic. Come with me willingly. Be mine. Let me help you remember, since apparently I’m no longer in your memory, which concerns me more than you realize. I thought you were just being cute and coy upstairs,” Dominic said, frowning. “But anyway. We’ll discover it together. I’ll let your friends go, even your stupid companion. We can be together, and you can rest assured that no harm will come to him. I won’t touch him or anyone else unless you want me to. Think about it. Take my offer and forget about this pup that you call a partner. Be mine.”
