Chapter 2: First Suspicion

*It was the first day of the suspension and Aunt Sarah decided i would be grounded for 2 days and would have to assist her around the house, so i had to clean the entire house , it was the most cleaning i had probably done in my life ,the house was huge and had so many rooms. The gardener arrived shortly and i went to join him in the garden and he showed me so many interesting plants that Aunt Sarah had grown in her garden, but the one that really caught my attention was the poison ivy, i wondered what on earth would make Aunt Sarah plant these but it gave me so many ideas for pranks. I finished with the gardener who promised to come back in a few days to teach me more things, later on my aunt promised that we would go out for dinner.

So later on we went into town to Caesar’s Restaurant which was deep in town this was the farthest i had gone into the town and everywhere looked simple yet elegant, it was really a town for the rich but very unusual because i thought why would so many rich people live in this town. They got to the restaurant and the owner was actually eating there that night and he seemed to be very familiar with Aunt Sarah and so we joined his table, they seemed to be talking about some business deal but i couldn’t really make out what they were saying. We were about to finish dinner when the owner of the towns bank arrived and he also seemed very acquainted with Aunt Sarah and Caesar so he joined us too and they were all talking about the business deal but i still couldn’t understand it. Luckily Ella’s family also came out for dinner, i was absolutely elated because i was bored out of my mind so Ella’s parents joined them while i and Ella went for a stroll.

We kept talking about the crazy week we just had in school and about Ella’s new boyfriend Alex who was the son of the towns Doctor, Ella seemed serious about him which was surprising giving that she was a bit of a player but it was good for her. We walked for a while then they saw Annabelle and Troy her new boyfriend, they seemed to be coming back from a date so Ella and i thought why not see were this was going so we kinda stalked them till they reached Annabelle’s street, and Annabelle and her boyfriend headed towards her house which was just a block away, Alma and Ella walked slowly behind them and hid as they saw Annabelle kissing her boyfriend right before he left and Annabelle went inside, we just kept making jokes and laughed silently, we were about leaving when we saw a man coming from the back of Annabelle’s house, he was all dressed in a black jacket with a black shirt inside and jeans down with brown boots and he was carrying a big suitcase then he entered this grey SUV and drove off, we found it really creepy that he was sneaking around at the back of Annabelle’s house, but we knew we had to leave so we returned back to the restaurant and then we all headed home.

The next morning was a tragic one in Elmond, i was just having breakfast when the local news station reported the news of a murder, it spread round the entire town, the police ensured they had the situation under control and they would apprehend the criminal, they released a statement on the number one suspect and they said “we saw some footage and we identified the man’s grey SUV and he was wearing a black jacket, He was last seen driving out of town”.

The news shocked Aunt Sarah who looked really worried but she calmed herself in order not to frighten me but i was also pondering the news i just heard and thinking how it relates to the man i and Ella saw the previous night.

I hurried to Ella’s house and then went straight to her room, we both heard the news and so many thoughts crossed our minds, i always had a suspicious mind, i could tell something was up but i wasn’t sure what was up just yet so we had to let it be for now.

Ella and i spent the week exploring town and met some really interesting people, Ella also Introduced Alex to me and we all hung out a couple of times.

The next week we were back in school ready to serve the detention time, Annabelle looked at us with scorn and officially hated our guts and what made it worse was Zack walking up to me and saying he loved my prank, Annabelle was furious but couldn’t retaliate at the moment because the principal already put them on expulsion warning so they were walking on thin ice. Meanwhile Ella had noticed the chemistry between Alma and Zack, i teased Alma all day calling them either “Alack or Zalma” it was so cute i thought, but very annoying for Alma.

Later that weekend the gardener came as he promised, i was so happy because Aunt Sarah told me i couldn’t leave the house that day so i was so bored after cleaning the entire house again(which was part of my punishment every weekend). The gardener showed me the flower garden, i had never seen so many flowers in one place, it really was beautiful. A couple hours later he left and it was back to boredom for me , Aunt Sarah had been out for a while so that only made the boredom worse, so i decided to go visit Ella and be back before Aunt Sarah would notice, so i left.

I was on my way there when i saw the gardener who was driving to the old docks to do a job, Ella told me to meet her at the park deep in town because Ella’s family had a lake house around there. I got in the gardeners car and we had a little chat before i got to the park, i said goodbye to the gardener and went to see Ella. We had some fun at the park then Ella started talking about inviting Zack for a double date, i hated the idea but Ella said she had it all planned out, i had no choice but to agree.

I got home only to find Aunt Sarah and Mr Caesar sitting inside, i stood at the door and heard them saying something about “ the next batch “ , not really hearing what they were saying i walked in and it seemed to startle them, surprisingly Aunt Sarah wasn’t even bothered with the fact that i snuck out rather she called me to have dinner with her and Mr Caesar. After dinner Aunt Sarah walked him outside and i was peeping through the window trying to get what they were saying but all i saw was Aunt Sarah handing a cheque over to him, and i heard her say “ no mistakes this time” . I went to my room, i was growing suspicious of my Aunt and Mr Caesar but i couldn’t understand what was going on.
