Lately, some people have tried to prove that the Slavs have never played a fundamental role in the shaping of the spiritual life of Europe. That Slavdom hasn’t even factored into the vitality and humanity of Europe, for such merit, and that all praise therefore, belongs solely to the Romance and Germanic nations, to whom the Slavs, they assert, are but some simple, incidental element following in their footsteps.
