And it was difficult for the Magyars to accustom themselves to work in the fields and to rise to toil in the heat of the summer. And thus, once more they yearned to take up banditry. But the Slovaks restrained them from expeditions of plunder, showing them what they themselves had elicited from the bosom of the earth by the labour of their hands, assuring them at the same time of like success, if only they would apply themselves to labour.
