Chapter 30 Damian entered the hostel bedroom he shared with Alex, carrying the damp towel and soap he’d borrowed. The shower in the communal bathroom down the hall had melted away some of the headache and stiffness the long hours of travel had dealt him. Finishing half of Alex’s baguette sandwich had helped, too, along with a package of shortbread cookies taken from the hostel kitchen. While they ate, Damian had related the tale of Max’s attack and his own escape from the farm, watching the shock, sympathy, and pride develop in Alex’s eyes. As he hung the towel on the closet rack, he saw Alex had brewed tea for them with an electric kettle and was pouring it into mugs. Tea would help as well.
