Chapter 15

776 Words
Another rainy day off ― without Kim Seokjin this time. How long has it been? Only a few hours, yet it felt like years already passed. During days like this, usually Jin would be here to order me around, telling me to take a warm bath and eat warm food, messing around with me by giving mocking faces. Today was his birthday, and I thought we could maybe celebrate it together. But when I woke up this morning, he was not there, he was not anywhere in my range of vision. Sighing, I placed down my beloved guitar, not in the best mood to play any good song. My mind was in a blank, suddenly everything became so empty and dull. Taking the old diary, I stared deeply into the cover. This book was where I scribbled sketches of my parents, where I wrote my days back then in my barely legible handwriting. However, these memories were nothing compared to his presence. I'd rather have him lurking around then having this back. But at the same time, I wanted him to be free, to be able to rest in peace. Come to think of it, now I kind of remembered something. I did make a continuation of this diary not so long after I missed this one! Dashing into my room, I rummaged the drawers where I usually put not-so-important stuff and finally found another diary of me. A yellow notebook with star symbol drawn on the cover. I cleaned the cove using a cloth before flipping to the first page and read the first entry. 2000 - 01 - 10 Today, I am finally going to start a new one since I lost my favourite pink old diary. But that's okay! A new start is always great besides, yellow is my happy colour. My parents once said that it represents suicide prevention! How wonderful is that? Sadly, this notebook was the last present that my parents gave to me... but that's okay! I did not manage to write this before, but this event was really important! Last year in November, I dropped my notebook somewhere and I could not find it. But after one month, I finally decided to let it go. A month after that, which was in December, I almost got into a car accident when I was crossing the street! Oh my. But then there was someone who pushed me. I did not really remember his face nor I could recall what happened after the accident. I was in shock. But from what I could remember, mother brought me to the hospital and there we sat in front of this certain room. There was a boy around my age who was crying really hard. He called a name ― he shouted, "Jin hyung." I think his hyung was the one who saved me. Yeah. I've always wanted to say thank you to him, but ever since then, I did not meet him anymore...? And then my life went downhill afterwards. Mother and father died. I was all alone. ― Mirae. So finally, the silly old habit I used to have as a child ― writing diary ― has finally become a use for my whole existence. That man was really something else, for making me cry again. Seokjin, you deserved an award for retard of the year. I flipped through some pages and finally found another important entry. 2005 - 12 - 04 Today, a ghost who calls himself Kim Seokjin suddenly came into my room when I was writing yesterday's entry. He is... weird. He called himself handsome and asked me to celebrate his birthday even though we don't even know each other...? He praised himself way too much in one day, which I find really weird. But apart from his extraordinary behaviours, Seokjin is really kind and caring. He's a friendly ghost who acts like a mother, even though we have only known each other for one day now. I'll call him Jin ― just like the name of my saviour ― and he'll my motherly ghost from now on! I think that nickname suits him, a lot. ― Mirae. In the end, Jin was indeed my saviour who saved me again and again, countless time after that accident. I was indeed an i***t like what he said, for forgetting important events like these. Closing the book, I used my long sleeve to wipe my tears as I sat on the carpeted floor, curling arms around my legs. "Happy birthday, Kim Seokjin... and thank you so much," I muttered, smiling. I hope these words would be able to reach him.
