Chapter 6

We stayed silent after he spoke. He didn’t say anything else, and he didn’t leave either. He just stood in front of me, as if waiting for what I would do or say next. “What happened to me? And how did I end up with you? What are you talking about?!” I asked in rapid succession, but he remained silent, just staring at me. “Why won’t you answer? I’m leaving,” I said directly and stood up from the bed. “You’re leaving?” he said suddenly. I saw the sharpness in his gaze. I nodded, even though I felt my strength slowly draining away from the way he was looking at me. “Yes. I don’t know why I’m here. I need to go home.” “Where?” he asked. I didn’t know why, but there was something strange in the way he said it. It was as if… he didn’t believe me. “At home,” I answered, confused. “At your aunt’s house? The one who hurts you?” My forehead creased, and my fists clenched when I heard what he said. How did he know I was only staying with my aunt? And how did he know she was hurting me? “H—How did you—” “Or to your cousin? The one who left you at the club last night?” He cut me off again. I swallowed hard as a cold feeling wrapped around me. “What are you saying…?” I asked weakly and took a small step back out of fear. He didn’t answer right away. Instead, he slowly walked toward me. With every step he took, I stepped back until I had nowhere else to go, and my back was pressed against the wall. “You can’t leave yet,” he said calmly, which made me frown even more. “Y-You have no right to keep me here—” “No right?” he interrupted with a soft laugh. In an instant, I felt his hand on my chin, forcing me to look at him. “Are you sure?” I grabbed his wrist, trying to remove his hand from my chin, but he only tightened his grip. “Let me go—” “You still don’t remember anything?” he whispered as he grabbed my neck, making me freeze. It wasn’t just because of fear. There was something familiar about our position right now… What really happened to me last night? To us? “You can’t keep me here. I’m not yours. I don’t even know you… If you’re looking for someone to play with, then not me, because I’m not a toy!” I said firmly, even though it was hard to control my breathing. But I shivered when he only smirked. “You’re not a toy?” He brought his face closer until our noses were almost touching, making me even more nervous. “Then stop acting like one,” he added, which confused me. “What do you mean?” I asked. “Oh god, Morisette. The way you’re acting right now is only making me more entertained…” he chuckled softly. I felt my eyes heat up because he even knew my name. “Who are you?! How do you know me?! Get away from me!” I shouted and forcefully pushed him away. He staggered back and finally released me. “That’s more like it,” he said with a dry laugh. “What?” “I like that. The feisty one,” he smirked. His smile was terrifying, so I clenched my fists while trying to stop my tears from falling. “What is your problem? W-What do you want?” I asked, my voice shaking. But he didn’t answer. Instead, he suddenly turned around and walked toward a small table in the corner of the room. He picked up a glass of water and offered it to me. “Drink this,” he said, but I didn’t move and refused to take the glass. “I thought you wanted to leave?” he asked. “What does water have to do with me leaving?” I asked sarcastically, which made him smirk again. “You should drink water after what we did last night… You fell asleep right away,” he said with a laugh. I swallowed hard. I saw his eyes travel over my entire body, then glance at the bed. I followed his gaze and was shocked when I saw bloodstains on the sheets. “W—What did you do to me?! You took advantage of me while I was drunk—” “I didn’t take advantage of you. You were the one who wanted what happened between us last night,” he cut me off. I shook my head because I refused to believe that I had wanted it. “I don’t believe you!” I shouted at him, but his smirk only grew wider. “Oh dear, you should only say that once you remember what happened to you,” he said and turned his back on me. “I’m going to have you arrested! I’m going to sue you!” I shouted to make him stop walking. “And what exactly will you sue me for? To give you what you wanted? Try me, woman. Or you will see what you’re really looking for,” he said, which scared me so much that I nearly sat down on the edge of the bed. He just smirked at me, then turned around and walked away. But before he left the room, he glanced back at me. “If you’re trying to escape, look out the window first to check if you can actually get away,” he said, then closed the door behind him. I clenched my fists and let out a sob. I quickly stood up and went to the window. My crying only grew louder when I saw guards stationed below — and the window was facing exactly that direction… What really happened to me? Who is this man I’m with right now? And why am I in this place…
