Sophie's Point Of View
At that point, my heart stopped beating. I fell sick. I was triggered to dash back to the ward for urgent treatment. Sebastian has destroyed my system.
“I can make it up to you.
Please pardon me. It's not what you think,” he apologized.
He was leaning forward to me. I hurriedly moved backward. I was harbouring bad plans in my mind that may lead me to prison if successful.
“Pass this phone to him and take me home. I need to go on holiday in Singapore,” I told Katie while passing the phone to her.
“Holiday?” Sebastian freaked out.
“Why are you going on a holiday? What about the company? Are you just going to neglect everything we built?” he protested.
I just discovered how self centred he was. He only bothered about himself.
I saw this weird character, yet I agreed to be his wife because I figured he might change. I just discovered that a leopard never changes its spot.
I shake my head in agony. Starting an argument with him would only become a waste of effort. My mental health was more significant to me.
“Here's your phone,” Katie returned his phone to him. Same old Sebastian. He declined the phone.
“I want to know why your boss is heading for a holiday. Why is she just notifying me now?” Sebastian demanded. He was becoming domineering.
“Toss the phone on the tiles and get me out of here,” I tasked Katie with a low voice.
Arguing with Sebastian made me lose my vocal cords. I started to experience migraines. The last thing I want for myself is more chaos.
“Honey?” Rene called for his attention.
The nurse who took Rene out of the ward had left already. Rene was isolated, seeking for Sebastian to come drive her home.
“Your lover needs you. Go fetch her,” I told Sebastian and to the car, yearning for Katie to come take me home.
Just as I had ordered, she tossed the phone on the tiles and joined me inside the car before Sebastian could come after us.
She whined up the windscreen to stop him from knocking. It didn't take too long for him to dash back to Rene.
I was peeping at them from inside the car.
The windscreen was tinted, which made it hard for Sebastian to spot me.
I wept. Steamy dropped my cheek.
It was hard fighting back the tears.
I married a beast in the form of a human.
It would have been preferable to stay a spinster than marry someone like Sebastian, who doesn't have regard for me.
Katie was affected by my weeping.
She held on to the steering without starting the ride.
“Take me home,” I told Katie and cleaned my tears away.
I looked as Rene and Sebastian stormed off.
It smashed my heart seeing him treat another woman like a princess right under my eyes, and I couldn't do anything about it.
“I am not driving until I'm assured that you're okay.” Katie declined.
She was the only one who was concerned about me. I was just too dull to see that.
I wasted my hours craving attention from Sebastian, who doesn't give a damn about me.
“I'm good.
We can do it now,” I assured Katie.
I was running from the truth while I was dying inside.
“Of course, you're not.
I can dictate a happy woman when I spot one. Can you please drift your focus off, him? He doesn't regard you,” Katie advised me.
I wish It was. I desperately want to be set free from the torture he's making me pass through.
I lowered my gaze at Katie.
My visions were hazy.
I had a thousand things to say to her, but my vulnerability won't permit me.
I struggled to adjust my lips.
I stammer at every effort to speak.
“I'm good.
You have nothing to be concerned about. Drive me home,” I spoke with a bit of courage this time.
I embrace my fate with Sebastian.
Wailing won't make him change.
“If You chose too.
I am just concerned about you,” Katie answered and started the car.
I wasn't pleased with her answer.
I knew it came from a place of exhaustion.
She probably had tons of questions in her head and was afraid to ask them, knowing I might snub her.
“Halt!” I stopped her from taking me home.
It's crucial to sort out some issues with her.
I won't be pleased being inside a car with someone mad at me.
What if she gets offended, gets us killed in a car crash?
“Katie, you have something to spill? Bring it on! Be brave. I promise not to be mad at you,” I assured her.
I put up a smile to convince her that I was telling the truth.
“I never wanted to say this. Since you want it, I guess I would just have to do it,” Katie sighed.
“Why are you still with him? For crying out loud, he doesn't even want you. Can't you notice that?” Katie berates me.
When I asked her to be honest with me, she took it personally.
I had no idea where to start telling my story to Katie. No matter how hard I try, she will never get it.
“Some situations are better left pending. Some day, you will get it,” I feigned a smile.
“Is that it? You won't tell me about it?” Katie fumed.
“I believed you said I should come clean with you? Are you afraid to share your plight with me?” Katie kept digging. It didn't seem like she was backing out soon.
“Katie,” I stepped forward to hug her. “I appreciate you for everything you do for me. You've been daring, and I'm eternally indebted for that,”
I discovered that I hadn't had the opportunity to give Katie her accolades. I got the perfect assistant in the universe. I would never exchange her for anything.
“I'll always be available for you. I got your back for life. Now let's talk about your long trip to Singapore,” She smiled at me as we drove home.
