Sophie's Point Of View
We finally got home after the ugly encounter with Sebastian at the hospital. I don't wish to witness such chaos ever again.
I was obstinate about getting out of the car. Katie had already left the car while I was drenching in my pool of agony.
She was about to enter the house when she observed I was nowhere to be found.
She made a U-turn, heading back to the car. “What's the matter? Why aren't you coming outside?”
“Don't bother, I'm good.” I lied.
My body and face could tell that something was killing me.
How do I tell Katie that I was still in love with Sebastian? The fight that happened at the hospital was still echoing in my head like a bell. Regardless of how hard I try to overlook it, I still find myself drawing closer to the past.
“And you want me to believe that? Come off it, is it about him?” she asked me.
She has lived with me so long that she now knows my next move. Making her believe me won't be that easy.
“Yes, it's about him,” I nodded my head in the affirmative. There was no need to lie. Katie had already discovered the truth.
“I knew it,” she flared up.
“Can we not discuss him now? He's a bad omen. We should be drifting on your trip to Singapore,” Katie advised me as though she were my mother.
“Sure?” I lowered my gaze and took out my phone. I didn't know what I was doing.
“What the heck are you doing? I hope it's not what I'm thinking?” She flared up.
I overlooked her to pay attention on my phone. Before I could find my stance, Katie grabbed the phone from me.
“Madame!” She sparked outrageously.
“After what he made you pass through at the hospital? Don't you ever take lessons?” she berated me when she discovered I was trying to call Sebastian.
“It's been three hours since we drove away to the hospital, and Sebastian hasn't reached out nor arrived home, and you want me to be happy?
Sorry to burst your bubble to you, I'm not that wicked,” I retorted and took back my phone from Katie.
“I guess I must have a hot bath and return to the office,” I told Katie and stepped out of the car. She joined me immediately.
“Did I just hear you well?” She stood in front of me, opposing my verdict. She was the weapon formed against me.
“I am not letting you head back to work. You need all the sleep you can get.
You witnessed the doctor mention that you needed to sleep, didn't you?” Katie prompted me.
“Damn the doctor.
He should rot in jail.
Who's going to oversee the business when I'm resting?” I clapped back at Katie and made her speechless.
As I was about to walk to my room, Katie halted me again. This time, I lost my patience and was on the verge of slapping her in the face.
I had to pull myself back from my predicament. I was still in the healing process.
“What do you want this time? The last time I checked, you have your flat. Why stress me so much?” I yelled at Katie and felt something leaving my body.
I couldn't decipher what that was. My head was ringing like the church bell.
“My head,” I caressed my head in agony and quietly dropped to the sofa.
“I warned you,” Katie said angrily as she aided me to my room.
“Wait a minute,” she halted me again and left.
She returned some minutes later with a glass of chilled water. She brought out some of the medications that were prescribed by the doctor.
“This would help you feel great,” she passed them over to me and watched me drink them with the glass of water.
“How do you feel now?” She asked me.
I sighed. “Great,”
“Awesome! You need to sleep now. I'll be in the living room if you want anything,” she took the glass of water and wanted to depart when I called her back to talk about my trip to Singapore.
I knew it was a bad time to talk about it. I just couldn't wait to distance myself from Sebastian until I regained my strength. I was gradually becoming a shadow of myself. I'm scared that I will go crazy if nothing is done.
"We can't, please.
Don't do it. Singapore can hold on for now. Now, we need to focus on your health,” Katie advised.
She wasn't far from the truth. I was just too obstinate to listen.
“You won me,” I finally accepted.
For the first time in a while, I accepted her advice. It was a difficult decision to accept, but I had no option. My recovery was significant to me.
Katie was accurate.
It would be hard for me to handle the business in this state. As for Sebastian, he would move on after my death.
If he could cheat on me while I'm still breathing, he could do even worse when I'm no more.
While Katie was absent in the living room, I heard someone knocking at the door. I looked at the wall clock and realized it was just seven AM.
“Who is that?” I asked myself rhetorically, knowing that I wasn't anticipating anyone.
My mind dashed down to Sebastian until I discovered that he was my husband. He has the right to return without needing to knock.
In the process of racking my head, Katie appeared up in my room, looking so elated.
“Someone's here for you,” she said.
“Who's that?
Please don't make me think. I'm not loving this,” I frowned.
“It's Marcos,” she smiled
“Marcos, who?
Sorry, I don't recall who that is. I would rather not speak with anyone. I just need all the sleep I can get,” I hissed and looked to the wall.
“It's mister Witt, nephew.
Recall him?” Katie finally said.
At the mention of the Witt, I jacked off the bed at full range, “Where's he now?” I didn't remember I was sick.
