Sophie's Point Of View
“Oh, see who the cat pulled in,” I said and motioned towards him with rage tingling in my eyes.
I wasn’t certain if he was here to see me or my mind was leading me astray.
I spotted the brown hospital walls and white tiles, smelt the odour of disinfectant, and felt the lurking sense of death that enclosed the lobby area.
I discovered that despite my rage that he didn’t bother to make a move. I was pleased to see him.
Aspirations arose inside me, but I overlooked it, I knew better than to let one accidental visit make such a big difference.
He quit talking and spun around with a shocking look. “Sophie?”
He uttered and glanced around like he was in the death trap.
“What the heck are you doing here?” He asked as his gazed narrowed on the bag I was hanging under my arm.
“What am I doing here? What does it seem like? Why would anyone be at the hospital, Sebastian? It's a good thing you were wise enough to show up,” I replied in a harsh tone and breathed slowly.
“I don’t get it,” He said and travelled his hand through his hair.
“You ought to be at some work seminar?”
He asked.
“Is that all you expect me to do all the time?” I asked, as my brows clapped.
“Your work schedule is quite guessable; you’re either staying at work or busy in the house. I can't tell how you do it, that could never be my case” He said and I hissed.
Katie muttered incomprehensibly behind my back and I could tell she was pulling herself from screaming at Sebastian
“You should figure out something else. A different daily schedule. Attend parties and explore other real life activities." He suggested and looked at the nurse, who had lowered her gaze.
She was the same nurse who had attended to Katie and me before. She adjusted in her chair and I could tell my head was correct the first time.
She was aware that she could've given me a heads-up, but she didn't.
Nonetheless, as she attempts to keep her focus away from the heated moment, I could tell it had something to do with Sebastian and my heart races faster.
“It doesn't seem to be doing you a lot better,” Sebastian said and shut his eyes. “You need to step out too. ”
“I need to keep this business up and running, and you know that. I don't give a damn about trips," I nearly spat at his face out of frustration.
“Halt,” He cut and took a step forward. “Do you always stalk me now?”
I stepped forward and perceived a smell of liquor on his breath. “That alcohol is killing you,” I retorted and walked ahead of him.
He reached out and pulled my arm, “What do you want me to think?"
"First, you saw me at a restaurant, now the hospital? There’s a hidden story here,” He responded with a stern look in his gaze as I pulled my arm away from his reach.
“Don’t you dare pull my arm like that again. Is that clear?" I warned him.
"Why would I stalk you around? You mentioned it yourself, all I do is take work seriously and head home. I’d rather accept that all my life than stalk you around,” I speak angrily and he lifts his hands.
“Oops, I didn't intend to trigger you. I was simply stating the obvious,” He replied.
“That’s so lame, why would you ask me such a question? Didn't you receive Katie’s text? The voicemails? Calls?” I asked and he shook his head slowly.
“What are you talking about?” He asked.
Katie stepped forward from behind me.
She looked at him for a while, then moved closer to the lobby table to speak to the nurse.
“What do you mean? I reached out as well. You answered the phone and talked to me.
Why are you behaving like you weren't aware of this? I called you hours ago,” I explained, trying to put myself together to avoid sounding like a broken record.
I glared in frustration as he picked his phone from his pocket and looked at the screen for a few minutes.
“Oh my.
I swear, Sophie, I didn't focus attention on this call. A lot happened that time." He said slowly and returned the phone in his pocket.
“Why didn't you call the driver to come pick you?” he asked.
“Because I wanted you to do it, if it was so necessary, you couldn't pay attention to my call from the hospital?” I asked and instantly wished I had walked past him when he was speaking to the nurse.
“That’s not it.
Can we not do this right now?" He whispered.
“Oh, we must discuss it,” I responded with a cheeky grin.
“Whatever made you stay away for days only to show up in an hour? I want to know." I demanded.
“Sophie, please, let’s not do this right now. Why blame me for showing up at three AM? That’s lame talk, I wasn't even aware you were here.” he defended himself.
“I called you, Katie tried to call you. I notified you about the happening, and you couldn't be concerned to show any concerns?
Make it make sense. You keep lying, not being aware and that's what pisses me off." I said, and he looked surprised for a second, then he regained his confidence.
“I know you're upset,"
He stuttered, and I laughed.
“You have no idea, Sebastian.
That's the reason you can't even make me feel at ease. I hit my head on the desk and collapsed in the office.
My sweet husband stands in the lobby area of the hospital, asking me if I was stalking him since I was jobless," I bemoaned
I began to adjust my weight until I discovered a comfortable area to stand in.
“You passed out?” He asked in shock.
“I nearly died.
I was unconscious for days."
I wipe my tears.
"I’m witnessing life after all.
So tell me, why are you here since you said it's not because of me?" I unleashed my inner rage.
