The Fire Beneath the Ice

Aviva managed to steady herself and prevent causing a scene in the garden. She hurriedly walked out with her chest feeling like it was knotted with emotions, avoiding the curious gazes of people. Once she was out of sight, she leaned onto a wall struggling to catch her breath. ‘Was she not good enough to be a mate?’ She wondered as she tried to stop the tears from spilling over. After what felt like an eternity, Aviva finally managed to calm her racing heart. Taming a comforting breath, she decided to head back to her room. But the sight that greeted her made her stop right in her tracks. There was Pierce, smiling... actually smiling with a stunning red-haired beauty by his side in the middle of the hallway. It was the widest smile she had ever seen on his face. Heck... she couldn’t even recall ever seeing him smile. The gorgeous lady leaned on him as she whispered inaudibly. They both laughed at the inside joke, her laugh light and pretty. Aviva froze, her heart sinking as Pierce smirked and pulled the woman closer. The scene made her chest tighten. For the next few days, Pierce made sure Aviva saw him and the woman whose name she learned was Elara. She sat at his right hand when they dined, sparred in the courtyard, and walked through the pack house hand in hand. Aviva’s resolve wavered, but she refused to give in, letting Pierce see her crumble. On the sixth night, Aviva could no longer take it. She cornered Pierce in his study, her fists clenched by her sides. “What are you doing?” She demanded, her voice trembling with anger. Pierce didn't look up from his papers, his voice was cold. “What are you talking about?” “You know exactly what I’m talking about!” She snapped. “You’ve been parading that woman like I don’t exist. Do you think I’m that stupid, and I won’t see through your tricks to push me away? You think I’ll just pack up and leave because you are playing games?” Finally, Pierce raised his eyes to meet hers. “You don’t belong here, Aviva... I’m trying to give you reasons to leave before it’s too late.” Her heart ached at his words, but she took a step closer. “You don’t get to decide if I stay or leave, that’s my choice, and I’m not going anywhere, Pierce. You’re my mate, and I won’t abandon you, no matter how hard you try to push me away.” His blue eyes darkened, and before she could react, he crossed the room in a single stride. His hands gripped her arms tightly, his face inches from hers. “You don’t know what you’re saying,” he growled. “Then show me what I’m saying.” She challenged, her voice steady as her eyes fiercely met his. Pierce’s lips crashed against hers so forcefully that it stole her breath. The kiss was desperate, it was filled with the emotions they had both been suppressing. Aviva clung to his broad shoulders, her nails digging into them as their bond flared to life. The tension between them melted away, replaced by an undeniable spark that neither of them could ignore. By the time they pulled apart, both were breathless. Pierce’s expression was a mixture of anger and longing. “You’re an impossible little wolf,” he muttered as he ran his thumb on her bottom lip. Aviva’s eyes were still unfocused and glistening with moisture. “... and so f*****g beautiful.” He continued as he crashed his lips on hers again. He quickly lifted her off the ground and with huge strides arrived at his work desk and hurriedly shoved everything on it on the ground as he gently placed her on it, not once breaking his lips from hers. “Mmmmm...” Aviva moaned as she struggled to take off his shirt. “Slowly now little wolf, I’ll strip for you.” He teased as he pulled away from her to unbutton his shirt. Aviva blushed as her eyes roamed around his bare broad chest. He had wisps of curly hair which only made his chest more attractive. “Do you like what you see?” He asked as he leaned towards her. “Yes,” she replied, her voice sultry. “Have you done this before?” He asked as he used his index finger to put a stray hair on her forehead back of her ear. She shook her head as she turned her face from him shyly. “Look at me...” he urged, “if it’s too much for you, tell me, okay?” “Okay...” she affirmed. Pierce slowly went down on his knees, not breaking his eye contact with her. Aviva wanted to turn her eyes away from his as his stare was too intense, but he caught her right in time. “Watch me.” He commanded, his voice enchanting and commanding. He slowly spread her legs open, only to discover a lack of a barrier. “You didn't wear undies,” he looked at her amusedly. Aviva blushed, her cheeks hotter than usual. “I don’t wear undies.” “Better for me then.” He smiled as he dipped his head into her legs. “Ahhhh...” Aviva moaned out loud, the wave of pleasure hitting her intensely as his hot wet tongue lapped at her. “It’s... it’s too much...” she stuttered, trying to push his head out of her legs. But Pierce was stubborn as he kept on doing his thing. After a few minutes, Aviva was a hot moaning mess, her legs shook from the afterwave of pleasure. “Tell me if it gets too much for you, okay?” Pierce cooed gently as he took off his pants. Aviva nodded weakly as she tried to focus her gaze on him. She gasped as she saw what was underneath his boxers. “How is that going to fit into me?” She whispered and Pierce burst into a fit of laughter. “Oh shit... I said that out loud, didn’t I?” She whimpered, facepalming herself. “Yes you did... we will make it work. Don’t worry.” He smirked as he leaned closer to her.
