Chained to Fate

Aviva felt a sharp pain at the back of her head as she regained consciousness. She groaned and tried to touch her head but soon realized she was bound with chains. Panic flooded her senses as she tried to make sense of where she was. A massive four-poster bed in a dark ornate room, her wrists and ankles were bound in silver and the room smelled heavily of sandalwood and power making her wolf whimper at the scent. Her heart raced as she realized where she was. This was the Lycan prince’s room. She knew because she helped Alpha Jenson with the arrangements. Hours passed and Aviva's fear grew with each tick of the clock, and she could feel her back break into new sweats at every breath she took. When the door finally creaked open, the air turned electric. A towering figure stepped inside, his presence dominating the room. Prince Pierce had arrived not too long ago and every minute he spent returning useless greetings made his wolf claw desperately at him. Alpha Jenson and his fiancée kept on trying to make small talk with him, and it got him more irritated. “I’m tired, and I need to get some rest.” He said as he walked out without waiting for their response. He needed to escape to the woods to release his wolf or else there wouldn't be a nice sight to see at all. But as he stepped into the room, he wasn’t expecting the sight he saw at all. His blue eyes immediately locked onto Aviva and his expression darkened, confusion flickering on his handsome face before being replaced with fury. “What is the meaning of this?” He growled, his voice low and cruel. Aviva’s breath hitched, and she scrambled to speak. “Please, I don’t know why I’m here, they put me here. You must believe me!” Pierce took a step closer, his sharp features pronounced by the moonlight seeping through the window. His wolf was restless and already clawing for control. The full moon didn’t help but worsen matters as he tried to control himself. “Do you have any idea who I am?” He snarled, his hands clenching into a fist. “Yes,” Aviva replied with tears streaming down her pretty face. “Please don’t kill me” she whispered, seemingly begging. He clenched his jaw trying to suppress the storm brewing inside of him. The curse was already taking its toll as the full moon's pull only made it worse. His muscles ached as his wolf clawed desperately at him for control, its primal instincts screaming at him to either claim or ruin the woman in his bed. Aviva whimpered, shrinking as much as the chains would allow her. “Please...” she whispered, her voice trembling “I don’t want to die.” Her plea pierced through him, appeasing his rage for a fleeting moment. “What is your name, little Wolf?” He asked. “A... Avi... Aviva.” She stuttered. “You shouldn’t be here Aviva,” Pierce growled, his voice strained. He turned towards the door, gripping the frame with such force that it splintered under his hand. Pierce took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down, but it was no use. His claws extended, his eyes darkened, and a guttural growl escaped his throat. Aviva flinched, closing her eyes almost instinctively as he closed in on her. “Look at me,” Pierce demanded, his voice low but commanding. “When I release you from these chains, I want you to run as fast as you can from this room and not look back. Do you understand me, little Wolf?” he said. “Yes, yes, I understand Prince Pierce,” Aviva said as she nodded vigorously. “Good,” Pierce replied as he searched for the key to her chains on the bedside table. He found it after some minutes and worked quickly to unlock her chains. “Thank you so much, Prince Pierce,” Aviva said, her hair clung to her forehead because of the nervous sweat. Pierce finally had a good look at Aviva but didn’t expect to see her naked as the moonlight shone on her slender body. He felt his wolf lose control this time, and he suddenly lunged at her. Aviva screamed in terror as both of them fell back on the bed. Her body immediately released a gentle white light. “Arghh, f**k” Pierce groaned as he shielded his eyes against the white light. The bond between them snapped into focus and Pierce froze. The scent of wildflowers and rain filled his senses. Prince Pierce paused, frozen in place, his blue eyes locked on the sobbing figure before him. The blood surged through him like a lightning strike, fierce and undeniable. A white wolf, His mate? Impossible. The light pushed back the darkness that was threatening to consume him and brought warmth with it and his wolf stilled. The rage that had been bubbling under the surface was reduced, replaced by a strange sense of peace. Pierce staggered back, staring at her in disbelief. “What... What are you” he asked Aviva, blinking, just as confused as he was. “I don’t know,” she said honestly. “I’m just... a white wolf.” “No,” he said, shaking his head. “You are something more.” Prince Pierce paced the room, his mind racing. This woman, this wolf, had done the impossible. She’d calmed his beast. The curse that had plagued him for years, that had driven him to slaughter anyone who got too close, had been stilled by her presence. But that only made her more dangerous. “I need to get you out of here,” Pierce said finally, his tone clipped. He couldn’t risk keeping her close. The bond was too strong, and his curse was too unpredictable. “No!” Aviva’s voice was stronger this time, surprising both of them. “I sensed it too. You’re my mate. I won’t leave you.” Pierce frowned, his blue eyes narrowing with irritation. “Do you have any idea what I’ve done to my past mates? I’ll kill you, Aviva.” “You didn’t kill me just now,” she interrupted, her voice trembling but resolute. “You could have, but you didn’t. Please... don’t send me away. I really have no one else.”
