Lacy’s POV
I pull away from Jake to look at his face. He brushes a loose strand of hair behind my ear and wipes my tears away with his thumb.
"You promise to protect me?" I ask him.
“Yes, of course. I've been so drawn to you from the moment I met you. I thought you might be my mate, but my wolf has been very unsure about it. I guess it makes sense now.” He laughs.
“I’m so sorry, Jake. I never wanted to deceive you." I tell him.
