The surroundings were dumb and the air felt odd. The footsteps of four boots squeaked through the soil, pacing along between two knights in silence. Both weren’t satisfied with the air. Something didn’t feel right. There wasn’t wind or air blowing yet; no one felt a breeze blowing on their faces.
“Something doesn’t seem right?” contested Romeo gravely while breaking the ice.
“Yeah, I felt the same too.” Replied Shinn replied as the heat wave and the cold air battled in the air. One is increasing and the other is decreasing.
“Do you think the one attacking us is playing with fire at this moment?” asked the violet-colored-haired boy, “Because heat is approaching our set on a similar stage.”
“Well, I hope that is not because there’s a lot of oxygen gas tanks around us”, his sentence pointed out to the trees, “ Fire loves hugging trees till they are burnt to ashes. Thus, it could be dangerous even if we fire up a match stick.”
“Let’s escape this range by using our latest technology.” suggested Romeo while creating a ring over his figure a both were still walking on their way, “The Swift Ring. I mean…”
Elaborating, The Swift Ring was a special technology designed by the Lazard base for their Knight's transport. Its main purpose was to teleport a knighted member from one place into the other within a second without creating a gate of a portal to pass.
Just a glass ring was enough to walk through and you could arrive at your door direct from your office desk. No walking along the street or using any means of transport such as cars or public buses.
Similar to portals, one has to set up his/her destination for both ends and then use it wisely, because, on the other side of the coin, this Ring had limits and deals, which were:
-One has to keep the destination marked well or else there will be no activation.
Secondly, no more than two can enter it. If a third party joins in, Ring won’t let him in.
Thirdly, it could only be used per month. Due to the destruction held on the earth, it was completely impossible to design a forum map to use this tech. Because of this devastating result, the knights only used it in rarer conditions.
At present, Romeo suggested escaping this era by using these terms, but his friend refused it. He agreed with him, saying it was a great idea. On the contrary, they were completely erased from the whereabouts of their foes. Who knows perhaps, the opposite side would be welcome with a red carpet, plus the greeters would be guns directly on their heads.
“I assume we must use our earth rather than the weaves on the air.” shrugged Shinn, concluding his point of view.
“Mmm…” Romeo thought for a while and then agreed to his fellow’s opinion, rejecting his own call for the idea, “Better take caution than be sorry.” added the boy a proverb to his friend behind, who chuckled in reply.
By the end of a minute, the lad’s way was walled by a thick tree, resting on the path. At one end, the tree had bushes of green leaves while the other end had roots connecting to the earth. The two representatives suggested to each other that once they cross this tree, they should rush ahead till they open their path to the end. “We had better quit this place and head to our destination ASAP. I have a bad feeling about this place,” asked Romeo.
“You are right. Once we return here on our way back, let’s hope the atmosphere turns to our side.” nodded Shinn.
Immediately, Romeo began to climb up to the tree, using his hands and legs, and behind him, Shinn followed. All was left reaching to the top. On the other hand, both had to slide down the smooth tree. Unfortunately, only one could make it off.
When Shinn was halfway to the top, swiftly a long chain struck at him, wrapping around his throat, dragging him back to the earth. However, he managed to get to his feet, avoiding his fall. Still, the attack didn’t pause him. A strong hand covered his mouth and grabbed it away without letting him fight for his escape or shout for his life.
When Romeo met the other side, he said, “Well, here it is now. We must be closer to the exit. Let’s……AH!.....SHINN!” his speech broke when he suddenly found his voice muttering only to himself, “SHINN!!” his call raced its volume till the drumming in his head, as his fist trembled, fearing to accept the fact that his mind was displaying thought for him, “NO WAY! This can’t be true! My friend isn’t gone! SHINN! SHINN!”
His feet bounced off the ground as he climbed back over the fallen log, ending and scanning around the other side. He had a little hope that somehow his friend should be available on the earth but, once he stood, he got a jolt out of the blue only to find empty space in the wide jungle as he was alone on the tree. “SHINN!!” he roared with all his might, “SHINN!! SHINN! WHERE ARE YOU?!”
Under the red atmosphere, standing alone above the tree, Romeo was conquered in despair. Losing his friend caused a shudder within him because his friend Shinn was a strong, bounded person as he would always be chosen to be by his side during an operation of any mission they attended.
On top of all the tasks, both these fellows had one priority task, which was to maintain each other’s safety. No matter in space or blue. They would accomplish their task plus make sure that both made it back together onto the base without a scratch.
Tragically, at present, he was facing his worst nightmare which wasn’t ever to be prepared for.
For the first time, his buddy Shinn was suddenly dragged away from him, not to mention during a mission. In the beginning, he thought of contacting the base for an emergency backup case. Nevertheless, there was no signal in this era. He thought of waiting in the hope that, perhaps, a rise might arise from the other knights. If they must have noticed both knights’ signals absent and may rush to their rescue.
Nevertheless, all hope was shattered when he recalled the frustrating statement of Captain Raimon: ‘Every Knight MUST perform his duty till the last breath without any aid.’
Here he had to do this on his own. His fist packed as he endured at his place, explaining to himself, “Standing around stressed and moaning about what’s lost won’t help a bit. Instead, it will flip my situation into the worst scenario. Out of the frying pan into the fire. I need to search for him in person rather than crying here!” he jumped off the tree, taking the track that he, along with his friend, crossed by, “No clue that Shinn will be facing at this moment. On the dark side, I have to make it up to him. Yet, even thou he is a knight, he still requires aid and I am the only one who can do that for him! I am coming and wait for me!”
