Chapter 4

After returning to Chu Qing's small apartment, Huo Li followed the young man with his luggage into the house. After all, if they didn't have a place to stay, they would have to sleep in the park, which was quite miserable. Chu Qing's home was not big or small, and it looked a bit dull inside, showing signs of neglect except for the flowers and plants on the balcony. The potted plants were colorful, making the balcony lush and lively, adding some vitality to the otherwise dim home. Huo Li's gaze was drawn to the grand piano in the living room. Although it looked a bit old, it was the most used item in the entire house. "It's a bit small here," Chu Qing averted his gaze, feeling a bit embarrassed, and pointed to a room door, "This is the guest room; I will tidy it up." "The guest room?" Huo Li raised an eyebrow. Leaning against the door frame with his arms crossed, Huo Li asked, "If I sleep in the guest room, how can I fulfill my duties as the one being supported?" Chu Qing realized what Huo Li meant after a moment. "No, no need!" Chu Qing thought to himself that his back and waist were still sore, and he had to walk with his legs slightly apart to avoid discomfort; otherwise, he would end up walking with a pigeon-toed gait. How could he fulfill any more responsibilities and risk crippling him? "No, you don't have to! I'll go cook," Chu Qing evaded the topic, turned around, and headed to the kitchen. Upon opening the refrigerator, Chu Qing found only a few eggs. He took a deep breath, realizing that he had been mostly ordering takeout or eating instant noodles at home before. Days passed casually, and most of the time, he barely ate. "What's wrong?" Huo Li followed him. Chu Qing was about to say something when they heard the doorbell ringing. "Chu Qing! Qingbao!" accompanied by enthusiastic shouting. Chu Qing was startled. "Who?" Huo Li's eyes narrowed slightly, revealing a hint of dissatisfaction and jealousy if one looked closely. "It's... it's my friend. Can you please hide for a moment?" Chu Qing was a bit nervous. The person who came was his only good friend in the entertainment industry, Yu Weixi, a prominent figure who could make things happen. "Why should I hide?" Huo Li glanced down, "Who is he to you?" "He really is just a friend," Chu Qing urged them, half-pushing and half-pulling Huo Li to the balcony beside the kitchen, then swiftly closed the curtains. The illustrious Huo Li ended up being hidden on the balcony by the new benefactor. Huo Li: "Why is this taking so long?" Upon opening the door, Yu Weixi smiled as he held up a bag of food, "Were you just caught coming out of the bathroom?" Yu Weixi was very handsome, with delicate features but no hint of femininity. His face had been voted the most beautiful in Asia before, and his current smile was irresistible. Yu Weixi was not alone; he also brought a friend, An Yize, who was a teammate of Chu Qing. An Yize and Chu Qing nodded in greeting. Accepting the food and snacks they handed over, Yu Weixi sat down on the sofa nonchalantly, frowning, "I heard that you terminated your contract with the company?" Chu Qing nodded. An Yize furrowed his brow slightly, while Yu Weixi directly cursed, "Damn that heartless company, they're utterly useless. Are you interested in joining me? I'll have my agent arrange something for you and get you on a few suitable programs." "No, thank you," Chu Qing shook his head, not wanting to trouble others. Besides, Yu Weixi's company mainly focused on idol management, which wasn't suitable for him. "Alright, what are your plans then?" Yu Weixi frowned, "If you have any difficulties, come to me." "Thank you." "Don't keep it to yourself if there's anything," Yu Weixi glanced at Chu Qing, suggesting, "It's better to speak out. If you feel lonely, come and meet my teammates, they're all very easy to get along with." An Yize shot a glance at Yu Weixi. Chu Qing understood the intention behind Yu Weixi bringing An Yize today and his desire to help him make more friends and socialize more. He smiled and remained silent. Meanwhile, Huo Li, who had been hiding on the balcony, grew increasingly dissatisfied. He had met Yu Weixi before at Chu Qing's funeral in his past life and had seen how close they were. With narrowed eyes, Huo Li's possessive tendencies almost overflowed. Just then, Huo Li accidentally knocked over a hanging plant, causing a nearby broom to fall and make a loud noise. "What was that sound!?" An Yize exclaimed. Yu Weixi looked towards the balcony warily, "Is there a burglar coming in?" "It's not... it's..." Chu Qing nervously tried to explain. "Hmm?" Both of them seemed suspicious. Then, Huo Li did something he never thought he would do in his lifetime; he did it to prevent Chu Qing from being embarrassed in front of his friends. He had to swallow his pride, break free from his shell, and defy his usual self. "Meow." Chu Qing: A meow was heard from the balcony, but due to the distance, it wasn't clear. Yu Weixi and An Yize didn't notice anything unusual. "Oh, it's a cat," Yu Weixi laughed, "Are you keeping a cat?" "No, no, it might be a stray cat that came from somewhere," Chu Qing paused for a moment, suppressing his embarrassment, "It's probably a stray cat." Okay. The three chatted for a while before leaving. After Yu Weixi and An Yize left, Chu Qing immediately went forward and pulled open the curtains.
