EPISODE 3
Cherry’s breath stopped the moment the door opened.
The man standing there looked calm—too calm for the chaos outside. The rain, the shouting, the distant sirens… all of it felt distant compared to his presence.
He was in his late forties. Clean suit. No fear in his eyes.
Only recognition.
And a faint smile that made Cherry’s skin crawl.
“Welcome home, Cherry,” he said again, softer this time.
Cherry stepped back immediately. “I don’t know you.”
The man tilted his head slightly. “That’s not true.”
Mira grabbed Cherry’s arm from behind. “Don’t listen to him.”
But the man raised a hand.
“Mira… always so protective,” he said.
Mira’s expression tightened. “Move, Draven.”
Cherry turned sharply. “Draven?”
The name landed like something heavy being dropped into water.
The man’s smile widened slightly.
“So she does remember the name,” he said.
Cherry frowned. “I don’t—”
A sudden flash hit her mind.
A hospital corridor.
Her father speaking urgently to someone.
And that same face… watching from a distance.
Cherry stumbled slightly. “What is happening to me?”
Draven stepped forward.
“You’re remembering,” he said gently.
Mira pulled Cherry back. “He’s manipulating you.”
Draven sighed. “Mira always calls truth manipulation when she doesn’t like it.”
Cherry’s phone buzzed violently in her hand.
Nolan’s voice came through immediately.
“Cherry, do NOT enter that building.”
She froze.
Mira looked at the phone. “You’re still talking to him?”
Draven’s eyes sharpened. “Nolan is here?”
Cherry’s confusion deepened. “You all know each other?!”
Silence.
That silence said everything.
Draven stepped aside slightly.
“Come in,” he said. “You’ve already been marked. Standing outside won’t save you.”
Mira shook her head sharply. “If she goes inside, she won’t come out the same.”
Cherry looked between them.
Inside—unknown truth.
Outside—armed men closing in.
Her phone buzzed again.
Nolan:
“Cherry, trust Mira. Not him.”
That made everything worse.
Cherry whispered, “Why does everyone act like I belong to them?”
Draven answered softly.
“Because you do.”
That single sentence pushed her decision over the edge.
Cherry stepped forward.
Into the red door.
⸻
The room inside was not what she expected.
It wasn’t a house.
It wasn’t an office.
It was a control chamber.
Screens lined the walls. Old files stacked in digital grids. Symbols. Maps. Names she didn’t recognize—but felt like they recognized her.
The door closed behind them.
Locked.
Cherry turned instantly. “Let me out!”
Draven calmly walked past her. “You’ll want to see this first.”
Mira stayed near the door, watching everything carefully.
Nolan’s voice came again through the phone, louder now.
“Cherry, step away from him NOW.”
Cherry shouted, “Stop talking like you’re inside my head!”
Draven stopped in front of a large screen.
He pressed a button.
A file opened.
Title:
PROJECT KEYLINE — SUBJECT: CHERRY ADEBAYO
Cherry froze.
Her breath caught.
“That’s not me,” she whispered.
Draven looked at her.
“It is.”
Images appeared.
Medical scans.
Dates.
A child version of her—connected to machines.
Cherry stumbled back. “No… no, this is fake.”
Mira finally spoke quietly.
“It’s real.”
Cherry shook her head violently. “I was a normal child!”
Draven turned slightly.
“You were born into something designed before you even understood words.”
He tapped the screen again.
A video file opened.
Her father’s face appeared.
Alive.
Talking urgently.
Cherry froze completely.
The video played.
Her father’s voice filled the room:
“If you’re seeing this… then they’ve activated her.”
Cherry’s knees weakened.
Draven watched her carefully.
“She was never just your father,” he said.
Mira corrected quietly. “He was part of the design team.”
Cherry whispered, “Design… team?”
Draven nodded.
“A system was built to store and transfer classified intelligence inside human biological memory. Not devices. Not papers.”
He looked directly at Cherry.
“People.”
Cherry shook her head. “No… that’s not real.”
Mira spoke softly.
“Your father tried to stop it. But you… were already modified.”
Cherry stepped backward. “I am not a machine.”
Draven’s voice lowered.
“You’re not a machine.”
A pause.
“You’re a living key.”
Suddenly—
A loud explosion rocked the building.
The lights flickered.
Alarms triggered instantly.
Mira moved to the door. “They found us.”
Nolan’s voice came through again—urgent now.
“Cherry, get out of there NOW. Draven is not your ally.”
Draven glanced at the ceiling.
“They’re early,” he muttered.
Cherry panicked. “Who is ‘they’?!”
Draven turned to her.
“The people who built you.”
Another explosion.
The building shook harder.
Glass cracked.
Mira shouted, “We need to move!”
Cherry grabbed her head. “I don’t understand anything anymore!”
Draven stepped closer.
“You don’t need to understand,” he said. “You just need to survive activation.”
Cherry looked at him, terrified. “Activation?”
Draven nodded once.
“The moment they fully unlock what’s inside you… you won’t be Cherry anymore.”
A heavy silence followed.
Then—
A voice came through the building speakers.
Cold.
Calm.
Unfamiliar.
“Subject located.”
Mira went still.
Draven closed his eyes briefly.
Cherry whispered, “What is that?”
Mira answered quietly.
“The countdown to your real life ending.”
⸻
The red door behind them suddenly began to shake.
Someone outside was forcing it open.
Hard.
Fast.
Draven looked at Cherry.
And said the most dangerous sentence yet:
“They’ve come for their property.”
Cherry stepped back in horror.
“I’m not property!”
The door cracked.
A final blow—
And it burst open.
Light flooded the room.
And a figure stepped inside.
Wearing no mask.
No weapon visible.
Just a calm smile.
And he said:
“Hello, Cherry. Let’s begin the extraction.”
