Chapter 36
Jabari ran every morning, starting before the sun rose, setting off along narrow paths between the towering white stone cliffs. He began in the intricately carved corridors, then left the canyons behind and ran in the open desert-like coastal trails. He inhaled sea air and ran as though he was free from everything, free from the heaviness that plagued him. For a few moments, during those runs, he felt free.
Now that his senses were open to his gifting again, the whole great world wanted to make itself known to him, pressing on him from every angle.
