Serena’s POV
The thoughts I was having made me smile.
Well, not exactly since I was Loretta but I was still being seen for my effort.
Loretta wasn’t in charge, I was.
“Thank you,” I managed to say, my voice barely above a whisper as I was grateful for his actions.
He nodded. “You’re welcome.”
He leaned in to kiss me and my heart skipped a bit.
He stopped halfway before smiling and pulling back.
Why did he stop?!
“You panicked,” he sighed. “You’re still not ready.”
With a shrug, he turned to walk away while leaving me standing there in the clearing with the morning sun now fully risen and bathing everywhere in its golden light.
Watching him go stirred a lot of emotions within me.
