Chapter 6

The next day, Tovi went to work and saw Ramon as soon as she entered the office. Ramon smiled as she greeted him "good morning" then went towards her desk. "So, how was your first day?" he asked. "To tell you honestly, it was a lot of work. I'm starting to wonder if I should just go back to being an agent again," she said then chuckled. Ramon smiled with her as the glass door swung open and Cole stepped in with an irritable look on his face, in which Tovi finds it so unlikely of him. "Sir, your father's been calling you—" Cole ignored him and shut the door of his office. It was kind of loud that made Tovi jump on her seat. Ramon sighed deeply. "He has some father issues." Tovi clicked her tongue as she sat on her chair. "Kind of expected already for a spoiled boy." Ramon chuckled as both of his hands twiddled and laid on his front, keeping his puffed-out chest and straight body. "His mother died when he was young and his father was always busy so . . . that was why he was like that." Tovi didn't utter a word and felt sorry for Cole having a family like that. But that was still not an excuse for being a spoiled person. According to her, the money made him like that, not his family background. "Well, I have some errands to run by today. Thank you for finishing the reports, Ms. Reese," he said as he raised the thick envelope that was on his hands. Tovi nodded at him with a polite smile. "It is my job, Sir," she said politely. Ramon smiled then left the office. Tovi still has the smile on her face as she sits back on her seat. She started typing on her computer and checked for Cole's schedule. Afterwards, she picked up the phone and dialed the prompt key and rang Cole's phone inside his office room. He answered it. "Hey sweetheart," he said, back on his flirtatious tone. Tovi pinched her lips as she realized that Cole was back at it again. "You have a meeting for an hour, Sir." "Specifically, what time is that?" he asked with a playful tone. Her eyes darted at the wall clock. "Eight o'clock." "Did you like the cheesecake that I gave to you?" he asked. "I—" she stuttered then she cleared her throat. "Of course, I like it. But you could've told me sooner so that at least I could thank you—" "I know you will like it," he said with an alluring tobe that made Tovi gulp and bit her lower lip. She shrugged off the strange sensation. "Meeting at the conference room 2, eight o'clock sharp." Then she dropped the call. Her body froze for a while as his voice didn’t leave her head. She sighed and went back on her computer. An hour passed and Cole still hadn't come out from his office. Tovi glanced at the wall clock and saw that the longest hand was about to land on the number twelve. She stood up then went to Cole's door and knocked on it. A few seconds later, Cole opened the door, holding a can of beer, his body was swaying, his eyelids were droopy and his shirt was open, showing his abdomen. Tovi goggled at him. "Do you now want to make love with me?" he asked with a slurred speech while grinning. She heard the telephone ringing again and she knew that it was the Operation Managers, calling about Cole's appearance at the meeting. What should I tell them? Cole's drunk! She glanced back at Cole who was walking back to his chair and slumped on his seat. He drank the can of beer then shut his eyes. Tovi sighed then went to the telephone and answered it. She told the managers to postpone the meeting instead because Cole was not feeling well. The managers agreed then the call dropped. Tovi went back to Cole's office and saw Cole still drinking the last drops of the beer. Tovi couldn't help but got annoyed with his irresponsibility. She stomped her way to him then grabbed the can and threw it in the trash can. "What's going on with you? Why are you acting like this? You are the boss in this company and you act like you lost tons of money! Other people would struggle their lives just to earn money. Yet here you are, sitting in your own office doing nothing but drinking beer!" Cole remained his deadpan expression. "Are you done?" Because of his patronizing tone, Tovi knew that it was a mistake to lecture him, especially with his state right now. Cole stood up then slowly walked towards her. Tovi took steps backwards as Cole approached her. Her back reached the wall as he walked closer to her. "I will call the police if you do something to me!" she said while stuttering. Her knees were shaking and her eyes landed on him. She could smell the alcohol in him, she could see the sweat rolling down to his chest, and his hair is a mess. His right hand landed on the wall beside her. Their eyes met and Tovi’s heart was beating fast and her whole body heated because of how Cole was too close to her. She held his gaze and a magnetic force was pulling them towards each other. Tovi couldn’t deny how alluring his eyes are. He sighed deeply then he turned around and headed back to his chair. Tovi took a deep breath and felt like she was freed from his short-term trap. He held his temples with his fingers. "I don't feel so well right now, Tovi. Could you bring me some medicine, please?" Tovi stood there with her feet frozen to the ground. "S-Sure." Then she walked out of the room. She closed the door behind her as soon as she stepped out of it, took deep breaths and was wondering what was that all about. The CEO’s son just stood in so close to her and she could still feel his aura all over her even after earlier. She sighed deeply and tried forgetting about it. Cole needed the medicine and she had to get it. She went out of the company's building then went inside the pharmacy and bought some medicine for headaches. Then as she walked by the chinese restaurant where she saw a couple eating steamy noodles while chatting at each other, it gave her an idea then went inside the establishment. She arrived at the office then she saw Cole who was peacefully lying on the black couch. She prepared a glass of water, a medicine, and put the hot soup on the bowl then placed it on the coffee desk. Cole stared at the soup as Tovi lent him the medicine and the glass of water. He took the medicine and drank his water. "What is the soup for?" Tovi separated the chopsticks from each other then mixed the soup on its bowl. "It's for you. Sick people don't just drink medicine, they eat." Cole gulped as he saw the noodles steaming from the bowl. Tovi lent him the chopsticks then he took it. Then she pushed the bowl towards him. He furrowed his eyebrows. "How did you know?" "Knew what?" Tovi asked. "Nevermind," he said in almost a whisper. He sipped on the hot noodles after blowing its heat off. "I thought that you just came from the bar and you didn't get some sleep. So a soup can help you ease your headache and your hangover," she explained. Cole nodded as he continuously sipped on the noodles until there's nothing left. "How did you know that stuff?" he asked. "I used to drink a lot before. Soup and water helped me all the way," she said then she picked the bowl and stood up. "We have our own bad days sometimes," she added as she partly glanced back at him then went to the counter sink and washed the dishes. A corner of his mouth lifted. "You aren't as bad as I thought." Tovi came back wiping a towel on her hand with a small grin on her face. "What? You thought that I was just a woman who didn't have fun?" Then she sat on her seat as Cole fixed his sitting position on the couch. “I’m sorry about earlier,” he said while looking down. She suddenly remembered the moment when he was standing close to her. “You were drunk.” He scratched his head, feeling embarrassed. “Yeah. I was. And that wasn’t cool in the first place. I should’ve respected your space instead.” He plastered a smile on his face. “You weren’t so bad afterall,” she said then she placed her leg on the other. He chuckled while still smiling in a shy and embarrassing way, which Tovi finds cute. He looked up then stared at her. "Would you like to see a movie with me?"
