Maya was late, again. And she had not even been to work. The bedroom, or the bed had some kind of relaxing magic that soothed her nerves and worked on her bones the moment she closed her eyes. Either that, or something good was in the food she ate last night. After tricking Brogan into believing that she really needed his help, she came into his house and was immediately ushered to a table of food. He asked her to sit and eat. She did not need a soothsayer to tell her before she obeyed. Maya felt terrible, preying on his generosity. The smile on his face when he told her that it was all good, cut her.
