Brogan hesitated on his way to her room, and turned around. What was he going to give as an excuse for not meeting her at the bus stop the day before? They did not have an agreement that he would always drive her home, but it has become their routine, since the first time he saw her sitting, looking downcast.
But, he had to accompany Vanessa to another of her family meetings- who knew parents could be so involved in the lives of their children? Or child?
This time around, her mother had been the only one present. And the reason for the impromptu late lunch, was to ask him about the contract he could not sign the last time.
Did they not get the hint, when he left abruptly? Then again, Vanessa refused to set them straight about what was really going on, even though he had told her to.
