Matteo's POV
Today is Monday, I don't like Monday but also don't hate it. I like working and weekend is my only day to rest and spend time in home. That's why I don't know whether I like Monday or not.
I don't even sleep peacefully because of my work and that damn insomnia. Sometimes I even had to go to the docks to deal with shipments.
I do my workout, every morning because I pay attention to my body's look. Cold shower is the best thing after intense workout. It helps me to relax my muscles more than warm one do.
By the time I stepped out my phone was already vibrating on the nightstand. A new report from my men. I skimmed the message as I dressed - a black shirt, sleeves rolled up, dark slacks.
I took my way to the dining room, the aroma of coffee mixed with gun oil. The grand dining hall was alive with the presence of my brothers.
"Finally, the king wakes up" Ricardo, my youngest brother said, smirking over a plate of scrambled eggs. At twenty, he had the sharp tongue of someone who knew he could get away with it.
I ignored him and pour myself a cup of black coffee, across the table, my first brother Vincenzo, was already going through the morning reports. Ever the strategist.
"We have an issue at the docks", Vincenzo muttered without looking up. "A shipment was delayed. The Russians are getting impatient.
I sipped my coffee, unfazed. “Let them wait. If they’re desperate, they’ll pay more.”
My second brother, Antonio, chuckled as he leaned back in his chair. “I swear, you enjoy making enemies.”
My expression remained cold. “I enjoy reminding people of their place.”
Business continued as usual. Conversations about alliances, betrayals, and the unspoken rule that family came first. But even surrounded by my brothers, I felt it—the solitude that came with power.
I had built my life around control. Around necessity.
I arrive at A.R. Corporation in my sleek black car. The employees straighten up as I walk through the glass doors, my presence commanding attention. My assistant hands me a tablet with the day's schedule, but I catch a minor flaw in a new fashion design. Without hesitation, I said my assistant to call the design team for an emergency meeting.
This stupid team can't do their only work right, just a bunch of idiots.
Sitting at the head of a long conference table, I listened as my executives pitch a new expansion strategy. I remained silent, fingers tapping against the polished wood. When I finally spoke, my deep voice carries authority, tearing apart weak arguments and demanding excellence. My leadership is unquestionable, and no one dares to challenge me.
After meeting my assistant said that I have an another meeting with executives.
The boardroom of A.R. Design & Fashion Corporation was filled with the top executives, their eyes shifting between each other as they waited. The air was thick with tension. At the head of the long, dark mahogany table sat I, Matteo Rossi, the CEO, my sharp gaze fixed on the reports before me. My suit was immaculate, my presence commanding, making it clear that no one in the room had the luxury of wasting my time.
“Sir, we have the quarterly financial report and the proposed expansion strategy ready for discussion.” said my assistant Emma.
I didn’t look up as I flipped through the pages, my fingers moving slowly, deliberately. My silence stretched, making the executives shift in their seats. Then, I finally spoke.
“Explain why our European sales have dropped by eight percent this quarter.” My voice was calm, but there was a weight behind it that made everyone straighten.
“There have been some delays in shipments due to supply chain issues, and our competitors have launched aggressive campaigns—” said Marketing director.
I closed the report with a soft thud, cutting him off. “Excuses don’t interest me. Solutions do.” My piercing gaze locked onto the man, making him swallow hard.
A younger executive hesitated before speaking. “Sir, if we shift production to our Milan facility temporarily, we can cut the delay time by at least two weeks. Additionally, we can counter the competitors' campaigns by launching our exclusive winter collection earlier.”
I leaned back in my chair, considering. A slow smirk curved my lips. “Finally, something useful. Make it happen. You have one week.”
The room buzzed with movement as the executives rushed to take notes and adjust their strategies. I stood, adjusting my cufflinks. “This meeting is over.” Without another word, I walked out, my authority unquestioned.
I was sitting in my office and suddenly office door bursted open and my best friends Salvatore and Alessio came.
"Greetings to our Great King Matteo from his mere slave" said Alessio with his annoying tone.
"Shut your mouth if you are my mere slave Sio" I said. "As moody as always" he said.
"How is work going Teo?" Salvatore asked with his calm tone, he looks calm but it's a cover to hide the ruthless demon inside of him.
"There are some problems but not that big, I can deal with it" I said with stern face.
"Good, but don't delay the shipment too long, you have enough enemies as it is". "It doesn't matter to me, even if we become enemies it will be them who would be at loss", I said without hesitation because I know, without my shipments they will be in a big trouble.
"Hey guys just stop this conversation. Bro, we didn't came here to discuss the work, did you forget?", Alessio said and looked at Salvatore with raised eyebrow.
"Then why did you guys come to my building while you have your own business to handle?", I asked them.
"Alessio wants to go to the club that you opened recently". Salvatore said and I look at them with annoyance on my face.
"Just go there, what the problem?", I said and they gave me 'really' look.
"We want to go together Teo. It's been a while since we sat together at a VIP room in the luxurious club while holding whiskey in our hands. Don't you get bored, you sit in your office and work all day. Just take a little break it won't kill you", Alessio said angrily. I could've put a bullet in his head if he was someone else for yelling at me. We are childhood friends, our fathers were business partners so we had to meet occasionally and because of that we became very close to each other like we are not friends but a brothers. Even if Alessio is one year younger than two of us. After I took my father's business I became busier than before, so they are. Because of that, we barely have time to relax and clubbing but we meet in business meetings or at galas.
I sighed and said "Alright but I have meetings to attend for a few days so I can make a time on the weekend". "Weekend is alright with us too. Then we will meet there.", Salvatore said and take his leave, Alessio nodded his head and went after him.
I don't know why but I have weird feeling about this. As if the universe was shifting.
As if something—or someone—was about to disrupt everything.
