Ava’s point of view
“What do we have here?” His eyes scanned me from head to toe. Traveling to Sophie, he shook his head, a sarcastic scoff escaping his lips.
I remained silent, but my gaze was sharp on him.
“What are you doing here?” His nostrils flared, his stare stern, burning with hatred.
I rolled my eyes. “I didn't know I owed you an explanation.” I crossed my arms over my chest.
I'm not going to let him bully me anymore. I've had enough of men who think they can do anything they want and get away with it.
Peter sneered. “So you know how to talk back to me, huh?” He stepped closer to me.
I didn't take a step back. I stood there in the same posture, my eyes didn't leave him. My actions made him halt in his steps, and a group of his friends behind him.
He suddenly burst into laughter. His stupid friends obviously had to laugh, even though there was no joke to laugh at, which just shows how airheaded they are.
“If you are done making a fool out of yourself, then please get out of the way.” Sophie finally spoke up, her voice stern, gaze sharp as she glared at the group of men blocking our way into the bar.
“And who do you think you are calling fools?” Peter's laughter died in his throat, his expression dark.
“She's obviously talking to you and your stupid friends. It is clear you are the only fools in here. Only fools laugh at nothing.” I shook my head in disgust.
“You are the last person to call me a fool.” Peter pointed at me, his face flushed red. “You are the biggest fool in the world, and it's no wonder why Julian left you. You were nothing but a useless housewife, and all you did was enjoy the money you never worked for. Lily is way better than you in many ways.”
I burst into laughter, the sound of my voice echoing into the bar, almost suppressing the soft music playing in the background. His words sounded like a joke, the most cruel joke, and I couldn't help but laugh.
“You know I'm telling the truth, that's why you are laughing!” Peter mocked.
My laughter died in my throat, returning my gaze to him.
“Since you don't know the whole story, let me tell you.” I walked to him, my gaze locking with him.
“I was the one who decided to leave your friend, okay! And what do you mean I was a useless housewife?” My eyebrow rose.
“Do you know what it takes to give birth to a child, spend 24 hours of your time making sure the child is well-fed, well taken care of, and do you know what it takes to keep a house clean and peaceful? You don't get to tell me that crap, do you understand? You have never given birth to any child in your whole pathetic life. Don't you dare think you can comment about my life and call my sacrifices useless. Go tell your mother that.”
Peter raised his hand to slap me, but I was swift to catch it before it could even reach my cheeks. “A man like you is so weak, disgusting, and a disgrace to your parents who raised such a weakling fellow.” I pushed his hand off me.
He stumbled a step back, his eyes wide open, shocked.
I'm not going to allow anyone to bully me any longer. Enough is enough. I've had enough of their bullying.
“What the heck do you think you are doing here?”
I turned to see Julian and Lily walking into the bar, hand in hand. He still has the guts to deny being in a relationship with her. What a two-faced fellow!
“Here comes the couple of the year. Please clap for their grand entrance.” I clapped my hands, and my dearest friend Sophie couldn't resist joining me.
I wonder what they were doing at the bar since she was sick. A bitter pang cut in my chest, remembering the times I used to wait for him to come home. He must have spent his time with her instead.
“Ava, what do you think you are doing creating a scene?” Julian's jaws clenched, his eyes cold on me.
I scoffed. What made him think he had the right to ask me any questions? Instead, I turned my attention to Lily, who was standing by his side.
“Hi Lily, how are you feeling today?” I offered my best fake smile. “I didn't know sick people drink alcohol. Won't you make your condition worse? I'm truly worried about you.”
“Julian, you need to teach this woman a lesson. She has been insulting all of us here.” Peter complained to his friend like a little boy whose candy was taken away from him.
I'm so done dealing with a bunch of weak boys who have no respect for women.
“Ava__” Julian attempted to speak.
I raised my hand dismissively, stopping him from uttering a word.
“Don't you dare shout my name, Julian Styles. You've lost the right to talk to me. We will talk once the day of the hearing of our divorce has come. Until then, shut the hell up and don't you dare talk to me!”
I warned.
For once, I didn't feel anything talking to him, staring him in the eyes. I felt empty, too empty that I'm afraid of my own outbursts. I haven't let out the anger building within me, and I'm trying to keep it under control. I'm scared I can't. I will murder him and bury him in his backyard.
I turned to Sophie. Her lips were curled up into a proud smile, and I couldn't help but smile too.
“Sophie, I don't think I want to be in the same space with these shameless people. I think we should leave here.” I suggested. I wasn't running away from Julian, but his presence was starting to suffocate me. I'd rather stay away from him.
“Absolutely, we should definitely stay away from toxic people to keep our peace of mind.” Sophie mocked.
I chuckled softly at her words, and the two of us stepped out of the bar, leaving Julian and his people standing there, their mouths agape with shock.
Obviously, they expected me to keep quiet and listen to their insults, but that Ava died the night I cried my heart out. I'm not taking any nonsense from anyone, and this is just the beginning.
