Under the veil of darkness, the city lights twinkled like a thousand scattered diamonds. Jennifer Stanley, the famed and feared TV executive, sat hunched over her table, her face illuminated by the harsh glow of her laptop screen, casting shadows on the wall. It was late at night, but she couldn't sleep. Tonight was the night she had been dreading - the night she would notify the twenty contestants who had made the cut. She scanned the list of names - Isabella Hart, Mei Wong, Maria Ramirez, Nia Patel, Fatima Al-Hamidi, Frida Jansson, Keiko Tanaka, Chiara Rossi, Ingrid Rasmussen, Amara Okafor, Carmen Morales, Leila Costa, Svetlana Ivanova, Angela Papadopoulos, Sofia Fernandez, Aisha Rahman, Malia Tavita, Kamila Petrova, Kiki Khoury, Mayra Santos. Each name was a mystery, a potential story full of drama and intrigue that would unfold in the coming weeks. Jennifer's fingers swiftly moved across the keyboard, diligently typing out the personalized emails that held the power to forever alter their lives. With every press of the 'send' button, an exhilarating surge of adrenaline coursed through her veins. It was a true embodiment of the captivating essence that reality television thrived upon - the enthralling thrill of the unknown and the palpable anticipation of the unexpected. In the meantime, Jennifer had a rival to outdo. Alexander "Xander" Stone, billionaire businessman and co-producer of the show, had his own ideas about how things should be run. He was a force to be reckoned with, and Jennifer knew she had to stay one step ahead if she was to maintain control. But Jennifer knew that the journey had just begun. The show needed a strong support system for the contestants to thrive. So, she started her research on coaches – women with a wide range of qualifications and experience. Yoga instructors, fitness trainers, psychologists, therapists, and nutritionists – they would all play a role in shaping the contestants' journey. After careful consideration, Jennifer meticulously compiled her top five choices for each specialized field. These individuals would offer invaluable guidance, support, and expertise to ensure the contestants could overcome challenges, unlock their true potential, and ultimately achieve their goals on the show. A notification pinged on Xander Stone’s computer at Stone Capital Holdings. He saw Jennifer's email pop up and chuckled. She was still at it, burning the midnight oil. He shot her a quick text, "Someone's burning the midnight oil as well." Jennifer smirked. She always admired Xander's wit and dedication, even if they occasionally clashed. There was something to be said about his ability to never give up.She swiftly replied, "Only to ensure that someone doesn't cut corners and doesn't push up our scheduling unnecessarily again." Xander chuckled as he read her response. He typed back rapidly, "Not cutting corners, just providing a different approach. Still in the office?" Jennifer's phone buzzed, indicating a new message. Glancing over at the device as it danced across the table from the incoming vibration, she snatched up the device. She glanced at it and smirked. "Not at the office anymore, but let me guess, you're at home shirtless working out while working or in the office working while drinking cheap whiskey?" Xander felt a pang of surprise and amusement. He hadn't expected her to be so accurate in her guesses. He replied, "I can't believe you would think I would have no taste in alcohol. I'll have you know that I'm drinking a couple fingers of Bowmore 1968. But on the bright side, though, I find it very interesting that you're imagining me. Let me guess, you're at home in comfy sweats on the couch, having a glass of white wine or at a closed high-end restaurant where you know the owner, sitting at the bar, chatting with a friend." Jennifer swiftly responded, "At least you have some taste in Scotch, and I wasn't thinking about you shirtless, for your information. You're close, and yet so far away from being correct in your guess. I am enjoying a bottle of white wine while at the Alpha Club." Xander chuckled to himself, picturing Jennifer in her element. He thought to himself that she must be right – she had more important things to deal with than imagining him shirtless. He looked at the email she sent and texted back, "Aww, the Alpha Club, the Women's Executive Club. That was a good investment as I agree with what it stands for and should be more of them. I'll look at the list of coaches and get back to you. Regarding the other experts, I don't want those areas to be a part of the show. If the contestants want to choose the experts then they can and they also want to film their usage of the experts then they can do so. I don't want to have the show/contest to depict that it's not okay to be thick or chubby or that you can't have confidence or high self esteem if you're thick or chubby as a woman, a person, or a human. It's perfectly fine to be thick and chubby, especially as a woman. What makes a woman attractive is that she's extremely comfortable in her own skin. I like the idea of giving the contestants resources that they might need, but not forcing them to have it. Regarding the other experts, I would recommend getting the most qualified expert that we can get, but I'll let those expert picks be your call. I'll send you my picks for the coaches after reviewing your list and comparing." Jennifer was taken aback by Xander’s response. It was a point of view she had not considered before. She quickly typed back, "I will admit i would have never thought about that before, thank you for your different perspective, I appreciate that view, I look forward to your coaches picks." Xander turned his attention back to the list of potential coaches. He had his own list, and upon comparison, he noticed a single duplicate - Eleanor Bonny. An accredited life coach, Xander had a deep respect for her, and had been considering her as a potential co-host for the show. His research had also revealed a secret about her past Eleanor had started her career as a dominatrix, a facet of her past that was not publicly known. That information was buried deep and Xander knew that Jennifer wouldn't find out about Eleanor's past. She only got into life coaching due to one of her clients was a renowned life coach. During their sessions her client would often talk about his profession and how difficult it could be at times to have the world look to you for advice. To have strangers buy your books and attend seminars and still not feel completed. He had been so earnest in telling her how much what she had been able to do for him had improved his life in ways that all the coaching and self help motivational speeches ever could. Eleanor always wanted to help people to her fullest extent. To hear that she had made such an impact made her think that maybe life coaching could be her future. From there she made an interesting deal with her client. She traded his sessions with her for his knowledge. He would do everything he could to teach her to be certified and accredited as a life coach for her time as his domme. Xander couldn't help but be intrigued by this new discovery about Eleanor. Eleanor always wanted to help people to her fullest extent. It would be difficult to convince her to come on national TV with such a secret, however, Xander could put steps in place to protect Eleanor. With a team of lawyers on board and air tight Non disclosure agreements, no one could ever breathe a word about the life coach's former occupation. Xander was certain that if they could have a sit down meeting his words would have weight. Xander was pleasantly surprised that in his research and extensive background search he found out that a lot of dominatrixes were life coaches and most people actually prefer dominatrixes over actual therapists because unlike therapists, dommes aren't afraid to hurt your feelings, and will make you make changes. While the profession itself didn’t seem like your typical therapeutic venue, the more Xander thought about it, it made perfect sense. Consider why people even went to a dominatrix, sure there ws Kink but often it was more. There was a physiological aspect to submission and that was a lot to unpack. So many Dommes had been the person who their subs came to when they were at a dark place in life. There was something to be said about stripping out the long couches and PHD covered walls, and getting down to the bare bones of it. Maybe whips and chains were not everyones cup of tea, but sweater vests and clipboards weren’t either. Xander sent Jennifer his list, with Eleanor Bonny's name prominently highlighted. He was curious to see her reaction. The next morning, Jennifer was surprised by Xander's choices, especially Eleanor Bonny. She responded to his email, expressing her doubts about Eleanor, "That she would love to have Eleanor Bonny on the show but she turned me down hard right after you pitched me the show." Jennifer also suggested another name, Jillian Harper. A celebrity motivational speaker, fitness trainer, and life coach, Jillian was a household name in the industry known for her charisma, expertise, and ability to inspire and transform lives. With a plethora of accomplishments under her belt, Jillian's influence stretched far and wide, captivating audiences with her powerful speeches and personal anecdotes. Not to mention her best selling nutritional books and fitness apps. Jillians had endorsement for workout clothing and equipment, there weren't many in the fitness world who didn't know her name. Her unique approach to motivating individuals to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals had earned her a loyal following and a reputation as one of the most sought-after figures in the field. Despite Xander's initial aversion to the idea of having Jillian Harper on the show. He felt there was just something disingenuous about Jillian. Her picture perfect interview smiles and prepackaged philosophies didn’t seem to come from anything deeper than a good PR team. Even so, Xander had to admit that Jennifer understood TV and viewership in a way that she didn’t and his trust in Jennifer's TV expertise and persuasive skills convinced him to consider the proposition further. After careful consideration, Xander realized the immense potential that Jillian's presence could bring to the show. Aware of Jennifer's unwavering commitment to quality Xander conceded. Xander replied agreeing to Jennifer's suggestion, "As much as I hate to have Jillian Harper on the show, I see where you are coming from. I'll talk Eleanor into committing to the show, as I trust you and your TV expertise to know that you know exactly what to do to make this show a success." Jennifer was taken aback by Xander's response. Eleanor had made her stance clear, she didn't want to be on the show. She was crystal clear in her feelings and Jennifer for one didn’t think Xander had a chance in changing her mind. How was he ever going to convince her? She typed back, "How are you going to convince Eleanor Bonny to be on reality TV?Not that I doubt your ability, it just seemed very clear that she had no interest. Of course if you say that you can, I believe you. " As she hit 'send', she couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation. What was Xander planning? He had to have something majo up his sleeve to swing getting the woman on board with the show. And with that, the stage was set. The players were in position, each one with their own agenda, their own hopes and dreams for the upcoming show. Jennifer was determined to stay ahead of Xander, Xander was determined to get Eleanor on board, and Eleanor was blissfully unaware of the storm that was about to hit her. As Jennifer sat back in her chair, the soft creek and rocking motion a contrast in its gentility to how she felt right now. They were on a precipice, she couldn't help but feel excited. This was just the beginning. They could be sitting on the next big thing in prime time, it was so inventie and so…real. The real drama however, the real excitement was yet to come. And she, for one, couldn't wait to see how it all unfolded.
