Chapter Thirty-Four

“I need you to tell me what to do, Aurora.” Phillip sat on the edge of her bed, brushing the hair away from her calm face. “Is this how I save you?”
When she’d first fallen into her slumber, Phillip blamed himself. He knew it was an irrational feeling, guilt, but that hadn’t lessened the pain inside him. He couldn’t free her from the curse. Not back then. He’d thought he had when he used his power to reach inside her, to snap the ties of the magic. Only, it hadn’t worked.
Was it because he’d held back? The way to wake her was to do as he’d done then, pushing his power into her every cell, but he couldn’t pull it back. Not this time. The magic would leave him, and he’d die. The power would live on, attaching itself to the next Basile meant to inherit it. Wulf
