Jason checked into the 5th daycare centre he has checked in town that day. "After this, I'm done" he said to himself under his breath. Children paintings are on specific areas on the wall, with the most of the wall painted with very warm colors. He walked in and introduced himself to the receptionist that worked there.
Just when he was about to tell who he came to see. Ashley walked past them, heading out through the door.
"Ashley"
She paused, turned–
"Hi" She responded with a shaky Voice.
"I came to see you" he added
Ashley gazed at him, totally unfazed by everything–
She signals him to follow her outside, a more confidential space.
"What's this about?" She said in a somewhat rude tone.
Jason clears his throat, he was thrown off balance by her reaction.
"I came to return your pendant". He said as he handed it to her.
"Oh, thanks a lot". She replied as she motioned to leave.
"Ashley hold on" He stuttered—
"Can I take you for dinner?"
"Why? So you could have another night with me, listen what ever happened was simply me trying out stuff and I am totally not interested in you or even doing that again, okay?" Ashley responded rudely.
"Have a nice day Mr Jason"
She motions to leave again, this time she had faced the door already.
“For the first time In months Ashley, I actually spoke with someone that gets me and someone that listens to me, not obsessed or interested in what my worth is, someone that understands what i have been through and vice versa, can I take you out this evening?”
Ashley turned to him, took a deep breath and answered
“Just one date and you won't come looking for me again”
“Yes,yes I promise” Jason answered hurriedly.
Lovely date night, for someone that insisted it will be a “once and for all” thing Ashley had the most fun. They talked, ate , vibed and talked more about everything—
From Jason's toxic ex wife that loved him only for his fortune to the pain Ashley's husband’s death caused to her being a single mum, literally everything.
They moved from the dinner to the park and finally to the bar they met first, this time Jason drank responsibly. The night wasn't young anymore and Jason had to drive her home.
He parked in front of her house.
“I had the best time ever” Jason said.
“Me too, I really needed this”.
They shared a romantic stare…
“What?” Ashley asked with her blushed face.
Jason motions to kiss her and she brings her face closer. Then–
They kiss.
Jason retracts his face
“So this is it?”. Jason asked as his face switches from a smile to a pity frown.
She picked up Jason's phone and asked that he opened it which he did then she inserts her number.
"Text me now, darling". Ashley said as she departs from the car.
Ashley and Jason texted all night like innocent teenagers in love. The next morning, Jason picked her and took her to work. By noon he sent lunch for her and in the evening he came to pick her. They have their first official dinner.
This time they tell each other everything about themselves, from childhood to present. Jason takes her to his office, shows her around the company his dad built. She was absolutely terrified how Jason was able to stay humble despite having all this fortune. Right there in Jason's office they had s*x.
The next day was Saturday and Jason took Ashley shopping, this time they weren't alone Ashley came along with Teddy as Jason suggested. Jason and Teddy bonded so quickly and became buddies to the extent that Ashley was intrigued. He got lots of Clothes for Jason and Teddy then he took them for an ice cream date, then from there they went to Teddy's favourite game lounge.
The next weekend Jason invited Ashley over to join him at home the bar to meet his work colleagues and members of the board of directors to as they celebrated yet another milestone in the firm. They were all smiles as he introduced Ashley to them. This was the first time after the divorce that he brought a lady to meet people in his firm. Jason paid for the entire VIP session where he and Ashley drank and talked until midnight. They made out there.
On their way home Jason told Ashley that he wanted to get her a car as he couldn't stand the fact that she needed to get up early and catch a train just to get to work. Ashley didn't hesitate to push it away, she didn't want Jason to do more than he had done already. Meanwhile they had just a little too much drinks and were tipsy. Jasom dropped her off in front of her house. Before she got down, they shared a long kiss.
Ashley got inside, half drunk with a silly grin on her face. She proceeds to the kitchen and gets a bottle of water from her fridge.
Eunice walked in from inside wearing a plain face.
In a low tone–
"how was your date?" Eunice asked
"It was fantastic, beautiful, extraordinary, mentally rehabilitating, emotionally liberating–"
She sighed, then continued—
"Everything beautiful darling".
Eunice responded with a slow node.
"I know I am drunk,but I am not too drunk to know that something is wrong, are you okay?" Ashley responded
Eunice didn't say a word, she just focused her gaze at Ashley, almost like she was staring at Ashley's soul.
"Did something happen to teddy?" Ashley asked anxiously.
"No, he is good, I have put him to bed" Eunice replied, still looking bothered she continues—
"It's Noah".
Ashley sighed in relief—
"Sissy, aren't you the one that has been encouraging me to let go of the past and hold on to the treasures that lies ahead?" Ashley asked, wondering exactly where the conversation was going.
"I know I said that but—"
Noah walks in from inside and stands in between Ashley and Eunice. Ashley froze on the spot, her hands started shaking uncontrollably.
"Don't bother, I can
handle it from here okay?" He told Eunice.
Eunice left them and went in.
