Grace shifted carefully in the narrow bed, her shoulder throbbing with each movement. The painkillers made everything feel soft around the edges, but they couldn't dull the ache in her heart. Luna was out there somewhere, probably thinking she was dead. The thought made her chest tight with guilt and longing. "I should have found another way to warn her," Grace said to the empty air beside her bed. "I should have been smarter about it." A faint pause. "You did what you could. You always do." She turned slightly, eyes focused just to the left of the dresser. A small smile played at her lips, the first genuine expression of peace she'd worn since waking up in this safe house.
